Yesterday I was trying to finish off the repair to my Cannondale frame. I had dented it when I fell over. I have filled it and sprayed it but needed to put the synapse letters back on. I had traced the remaining letters the best I could , not very easy on a curved surface. I then traced the letters onto some Frisk film. Clear adhesive plastic masking material.
Cutting out the letters with a scalpel wasn't a doddle!
The scalpel doesn't always cut right through and leaves little bits still attached. Once I had removed the letters I tried to fit the Frisk mask to the frame. That was fun! It sticks where you don't want it to and not where you want it to. I eventually gave up trying to be too precise as certain areas just would not stay down and decided to spray the white paint on dry. The paint shouldn't creep under the mask. The result wasn't too bad. Some of the letters had distorted a bit as the film had pulled in different directions as I tried to place it on the frame. I tidied these areas up with a bit of 1/4 inch masking tape and touch up brush. It now looks fine and won't notice once I've lacquered the repaired area.
