I know of one Audi owner who tried to use a trolley jack to raise the rear of the car, prior to working on it. He couldn't do anything as the jack damaged the fuel tank.

I can remember when I was working on a car which had a makeshift bonnet stay. The stay fell out and the bonnet slammed down. My fingers were in the bonnet gap between the wing and the bonnet at the time the bonnet slammed shut. You should have seen the look of horror on my bosses face. I was in a state of shock not knowing what had happened to my fingers! I didn't feel any pain. The boss opened the bonnet and I removed my hand. Luckily my fingers had just been bent down and we're just trapped in the narrow gap. No harm done but I was lucky.

I make similar but without the Bacon, good meal if vegetarian friends/family come round and it can easily become Vegan if I leave out the knob of Butter and use more Oil when sauteeing the Onion and Spuds.

It's also good if you swap the bacon (and / or chorizo) for salmon scraps or some smoked basa / haddock. I add fresh chives and parsley to mine. The good thing about soups is that you can easily tweak a recipe to suit the circumstances.

After a day which didn't turn out to be too bad with a bit of sunshine & a 35 mile bike ride, it has just started getting very wet outside.

A new bulb has been ordered for the fridge and the evening's hot chocolate has been had.

A great midday wander. Beautiful sunshine and warm enough to be nice.
All totally spoiled by the kitchen tap!

A bloody tap, part of it is which crap material, it sort of dissolved over about 12 months.
But it had cost £13 compared to it's predecessor that was ten times that much. Lasted about the same time.
Rummaged in the accumulated bits and pieces boxes and found a replacement part
Then spent the whole afternoon on my back under the sink removing the faulty part.
Total pain in the back. Also rummaging for the plumbing tools took ages.
But I didn't have to pay a plumber!

I have just come back from another test ride on my Synapse. I have almost finished the repair to the frame.
I got into a bit of a tank slapper on a bend on some wet leaves. I could feel the bike falling over but just at that point the rear tyre must have found grip and flipped me up the right way.

On this afternoon's ride there was a set of steps down to sharp left leading to a cut through under the A14 with a cyclable bit of tarmac to one side that was completely covered in slippery wet leaves. I decided to take the safe option and walked, with a light pull on the rear brake locking the rear wheel confirming I'd made the right decision.

Another day of sunshine and showers.

A slightly less stressful day at work than the past few days. At least only a day and a half left before the bank holiday weekend.

I went for a walk after work, and unusually for me, I took a wander around the shops, not something I normally do as I hate shopping.

I think I will have an early night as I'm feeling tired and haven't really slept very well recently.

A electricity substation transformer weighing 178 tonnes being moved from Tilbury Docks to Dunton, a distance of 26 miles. They move the 2nd one this Sunday.

Company doing the work is local to me.
