A long day nearly at a close. I did my usual one hour brisk walk before work. I had to pop out of work in the afternoon as I had an appointment with the optician. That went very well, no change in my prescription (there hasn't really been any change in about twenty years) but I am getting new glasses anyway as mine are all scratched and the frames are on their last legs. Optician pleased with my eyes and I can delay any need for reading glasses for another few years. I will be having a new type of coating on my new specs which will supposedly reduce glare from car headlamps. I'm looking forward to that if it works. Costly, so it better work!

I then did my grocery shopping and a few other bits and pieces when I was out and about so had some time to work up this evening.

It's fireworks seasons. Sounds like the gunfight at the OK Corral is happening outside.

It's like there's a battle going on when that starts here, or a car has just exploded on the street.

I am tucked up in bed with the laptop and a big mug of tea. Feels odd not to have a cat beside me.

the next one has to be a cuddler. also will you get just one?

Definitely a cuddler. Am open to getting a bonded pair, but if I get just one, it needs to be OK with other cats so that I've the option of adding a second at some point in the future.

At the moment I've kind of stalled. Am currently going through a load of rescues I've been recommended, and discarding the ones that are a) too far to travel, b) I don't meet their adoption criteria or c) they choose which cat you get matched up with. Unfortunately, that rules out about 80% of possibilities.

And my cat fancy friends mean well, but they're just not being sensible or paying attention to what I'm looking for. And no, I'm not travelling to Accrington to view a longhaired kitten. (I don't want a longhair and I don't want anything younger than 2 years of age).

I'm really missing my best friend fostering for Ely CP - I got my last four cats from her, always the right cat at the right time. Now I don't have that anymore and looking for a suitable cat is just a nightmare.
