"War Of The Worlds" just happened to be broadcast, over the airwaves, for the first time on the 30th October, 93 years ago.

Second cuppa went down well with a slice of toast and red jam.
Been trying to sort out a hand rail for my elderly mother's driveway for going on a year and after chasing the contact we have for the department doing the job I have just been told it's marked off as complete on her files yet it's not been done or even measured up yet so we keep chasing

A belated good morning from Suffolk after a bit of a late night & a decent night's sleep. Bit of an overcast start to the day and it looks like there may have been a little bit of rain at some point. Coffee has been had.

If the dryness continues, I've decided to head down to Brands Hatch for a few hours tomorrow for the mix of trucks & various car racing categories (not on track at the same time!). It will also be an opportunity to get a tank of diesel ahead of Sunday's drive to Silverstone. At most this will be only the second visit of the year thanks to the combination of the constant queues for the Dartford tunnel, the appalling driving standards on the M25 and the chaos around the M25/A12 roundabout construction work.

Food shopping will therefore need to be done at some point today, but with nothing else planned there's no hurry. I may even do a bit of vacuuming first.

Oh! Just a few words on some legal documents. I think they are written on parchment and thought I might upset the apple cart!

heading to Mom's unoccupied house tonight & it's Halloween. she's still with us & still calls the shots. the rule is keep the exterior lights off, so we don't encourage door bell ringers. only problem is I love Halloween!

my older Brother will go there today to turn the exterior light timers off & I'll turn them back on, later, after the Halloweenies are done

one small hitch to the plan. I arrive about 9pm & start working around the house opening windows, turning interior lights on, setting mouse traps in the living room & painting in the garage. should be a spooky night!

so glad to have gotten a new laundry shutoff valve installed & new hoses. the old valve was frozen open & the old rubber hoses were no longer flexible. a disaster waiting to happen
