Today's 73 plate truck has 458420 kilometres on the odometer and has taken me to Hadleigh..
Soon, I will be staring at Felixstowe Dock gates.
You have my sympathy ^_^

Good morning from a ground floor hotel room in Margate where today's view is of the car park and the main hotel building. The early sunshine has gone, the cloud cover is back and it's strangely warm.

The usual post large cooked breakfast rest has been had and I'll be setting off for the train station for the homeward journey shortly as the train leaves in about 25 minutes. I shouldn't be late as it's all of 100 yards away.

Bought a long pokey stick and a gutter scoop. That's the front gutters clear for another 30 years. TBH, it was just the far end of the gutters that were full of dirt, but they are where the front apex/gutter runs so needed to be clear to cope with the volume of water that runs off the roof at those points. The pokey stick should come in handy for painting the eves this spring (I am not going up a ladder).

Just putting these together @Jenkins - I'm not sure there's much difference in 'view quality'

OK, so staring at some dock gates isn't likely to be all that exciting.

But surely a car park and hotel exterior in Margate doesn't offer much more visual appeal?

Mind you, this morning I'm in the downstairs office as usual. So my view isn't of the golf course / countryside which is the upstairs office view but of the house opposite and their van. SWMBO seems to commandeer the upstairs office whenever she's working from home.

It's more the disappointment of the 'highlight' of the trip being to somewhere I spent nearly 40 years of my life working at.
Thankfully the car park view was only for a short time, then I got to watch the Kent countryside pass by through a train window.
Gate 1 if you wanted to know 🤗
The one with a proper gate to close it off at the weekend. And a McDonald's if that's your thing.

Well, after a days work, my route home through Moulton Park industrial estate had, in a masterful piece of planning, roadworks at both ends that caused total gridlock..
Eventually, I dumped the car & walked the 1¾ miles home.
I'll pop back on the Brommie this evening and retrieve it once the roads are clear.. 👍

:scratch:Is it me or is the world going completely mad?

A certain person, who is one of the richest men in the world, has decided to eradicate poverty. To do this he will develop complex "humanoids" ? to carry out repetitive manual tasks. For this he will get a bonus that has 1 followed by twelve zeros.

Is this "robot" going to be complex enough to plant rice in paddy fields, or pick tea leaves at the right stage, or any of the other tasks that people in developing countries get paid to do?

Is it going to stop people planting cannabis or other plants because that is what earns them the most money? Is a robot going to install solar power, pumps and pipes for people to have fresh water?

Yours,
