My inlaws had a cat that did that: it was fine until they got a laminated floor in the kitchen. The next zoomies involved much scrabbling and bouncing off walls.
Then the revelation: carpet= grip. Cat logic took this information and aimed for the doormat in a flying leap.
Physics took over and the doormat vanished behind the fridge, with a furious and very confused cat sat in the middle, followed by a faint "Plop" as feline connected with architecture...

We get that on the kitchen floor (Slate) .............Cat doing 90mph but not moving

It's been a grey but very mild day here chez Casa Reynard, though damp after overnight rain.

Slept well enough, but could've done with some extra. Chores done this morning (grate, litter trays etc), and doing all the prep for tonight's supper (which is in the final stages of cooking).

Luncheon was once again omitted to go and do another bunch of firewood. Dry weather seems to be a boon at the moment, so makes sense to stock up. Worked in a different spot this afternoon, and cut up a load of pine logs. They smell so nice when they burn. But using the saw at shoulder height means that I got sawdust down my clothes and in my ears.

Had a and marmite on toast whilst watching Antiques road trip.

Cat has been fed, and soon it will be time to feed me. I got distracted by the curling.

Madam quite likes lamb. She didn't quite know what to do with it when I gave it to her straight off, but when I put it on top of her wet food, down the hatch it went!

Pretty much so for tight fisted Midwestern Americans, as well. One of the early Aldis was in the town where I grew up, used to have to drive my Auntie in her very old Nash Rambler to get groceries and pinch pennies. I learned a lot about thrift. Best legacy one can pass on.

Indeed. My dad used to stop off at the local street market on the way home from picking me up from junior school, and buy up what the greengrocer didn't want to keep for the next day. LIkewise, popped into the co-op there for yellow stickers.

I enjoy the challenge of eating really well, but still sticking to a tight budget. (Works out at around £40 p/w for the two of us).

Though many savings are also made by cooking and by being creative with leftovers.

Ahead of Black Friday, I got a lovely bargain on the Bay of E. I would like a proper/formal winter coat (instead of fleece). So for the princely sum of £23 plus £3 postage, I bought this one. It is very similar to this but in black, brand new with tags. It is a tad on the large size but that is so much more comfy than a close fit. The price from sparky pencer is rather "spendy" at £200.

I too, prefer looser outerwear, as it means you can layer up more easily when it's cold.

Same here, but I have polished parquet - mahogany, from a recycled ballroom floor, and beech, from repurposed old school desks.

Much whizzing of legs, but not much in terms of going anywhere LOL!

Call me old-fashioned, I also like a coat that overlaps at the front, rather than the way it is shown in the photograph.
