A great day.I did not count numbers but i think about 18 of us.Not one of us had Xmas dinner,it was not popular,i had fish and chips with mushy peas.Two lattes,two colas and two pints of stout plus ice cream broken choccie bickie and dark choc sauce.I got there about 09-20 and with the help of two mates set the tables,we have a secret Santa who gives out £20 to each of us,he gives me the money and i do a bit of a speech then hand the money out.Not knowing how many were coming he gave me £600 and what was left i handed back.The day finished just after 15-00.I am tired having not slept well,an early night is on the cards.And another thing none of us felt Xmassy for me i hope it comes later.

Sod's Law strikes again. Having finished the cuppa earlier, I decided to pop into town to get a card for my sister's 25th wedding anniversary* - guess when the drizzle started. Oh well, back onto the sofa with the magazine & another drink for an hour and a half until it was dry enough to go out.
It will shortly be proper hot chocolate time.
* I have no idea what the actual date is, only that it's some time in mid December and that they are off to Morocco on Wednesday for a short break to celebrate.

It's been a mildish and grey day here chez Casa Reynard, and the rain didn't bugger off till after luncheon.
Slept well. Leg is continuing to improve - the soreness is much more localised. And yes, it still itches. Am still walking with a bit of a limp, and my back isn't enjoying the wonky perambulation. Ah well, hey ho.
The usual morning of chores was had, and I also did a spot of upholstery repair on the low stool that is my preferred sitting room perch. Both the leather covering and the lining on the underside were a bit loose, so re-stapled everything into place. I'd have rather used proper brass upholstery tacks, but as that involves mountaineering to the back of the garage, I gave it a miss. I do not want to be whacking my left shin against things I shouldn't...
Lovely luncheon of pate on toast, a banana and a
Then off to town for some more bits. Tesco navigated first, and successfully managed to secure another side of salmon. Also bought the dill I wanted, a Dickinsons & Morris pork pie, plus a couple of small truckles of cheese to finish off a gift hamper. Got lucky on YS again, and scored some mini festive pork pies (a girl can't have enough pork pie, right), a tray of sausage rolls, a box of breakfast cereal and a box of four Min Spies from the in-store bakery. Still out of stock on the hot-smoked salmon I was after. And they have been for several weeks, which is muchly annoying. Spotted one of my usual till ladies and gave her a little gift (jar of homemade jam).
Aldi thankfully yielded the hot smoked salmon (was the last packet on the shelf), but nothing else.
Thence to Waitrose on the way home for a bit of a sniff. Picked up some leaf tea and my favourite sweets (the while I'm in there I might as well kind of thing), and scored a tub of sweet & spicy pickled herrings off the counter and a chunk of Cheshire cheese on sticker.
Last stop was B&M to stock up on cat litter.
Thence home for supper, which was the last of the beef stew (with some mushrooms & soured cream added to jazz it up), tagliatelle and the last of the red cabbage. There are now no more leftovers in the old frigo.
A nice quiet evening is planned. Other than a couple of hand-delivered cards and a venture out at the weekend to go yellow stickering and pick up some fresh veg, that's all the pre-Christmas running around completed.

I don't have anything like that in, but I can pop to the pharmacy in the next village along tomorrow and source some. But I'll keep the "heavy duty" stuff on till I've gone up on the loft to retrieve the Christmas decorations.

I have the Brewdog advent beer calendar to work my way through after the 25th plus whatever I pick up when shopping on Wednesday to go in my fridge for this weekend. The rest of the time I plan on being good - or in a pub somewhere.

I poured myself 137ml of a 14.5% red this evening. I'm unit counting to keep an eye on my consumption. So, when I've finished that, I'll be up 2 units (or 1.9865). So today's purchases are still intact, just like the 2 cases of beer causing a trip hazard in my kitchen.

Another day of nonsense at work.
A pretty cold day today. Pavements were a bit icy on this morning's perambulation. I doubt it ever rose much above freezing all day. Definite ice risk so no ride tonight.
I did have another play with bearing adjustment in my sickly Sturmey hub and am much happier with it now. All sounds much better and just a very slight hint of play at the wheel rim (which is how an AW3 hub should be). I'll need to ride it to be sure but no idea why I couldn't get it right last time.
I'm just going to relax now and read a bit
