Good morning from Suffolk - for a little while.

Update from yesterday/early today - after multiple phone calls the RAC finally admitted that they couldn't get anybody out to attend to the car until gone 8am this morning despite their promises that help was on the way . They gave me the option of either remaining with the car until help possibly arrived (no chance - I was frozen) or they would pay for a taxi home and I could re-book the breakdown this morning and home for a better time slot.
Which is why I'm currently in the queue on the phone having finally got back here at quarter to six this morning and had a couple of hours kip.

Coffee has been had and at least it's sunny.

Epic in all the wrong ways. Hope you manage to meet up with the RAC today. Coffee in the vacuum flask....

Ouch that's not good news on either front
Presume you got a taxi home last night
It could be another long day for you by the sound of it.

Taxi home paid by The RAC so goodness knows how much that cost them - 40 miles at very early morning rates on Uber.

Now being collected from Diss station by breakdown driver which will save 5-10 minutes. Flatbed the car home then organise a mobile mechanic with RAC to sort what went wrong.

I must be a bit tired after yesterday's ride: I've just gone into my student drop-in an hour early. I did wonder why it was quiet, then realised after 50 minutes it was starting in 10 minutes' time.

Surprisingly sunny and 7. Twix coffees a free bag of potatoes acquired from Lidl and the new radio fron Argos along with Sainsbury's being shopped.
Went to put my sunglasses on for the return drive and discovered an arm had broken rather than the screw falling out. Off to the opticians after the current coffee.

I live next to the Ely - March - Peterborough mainline in a former railwayman's cottage. It used to be the residence for a level crossing keeper before the line (and the crossing) was moved to the other side of the road.

All I need to do is look out of the window to see stuff going past.

Sounds like the best possible situation for trainspotting, and the worst possible situation for peace and quiet.

Opticians could not help. No spare arms apparently and the frame is discontinued
Meanwhile thoughts of a tiny drill and equally tiny brass rod holding the arm back together have currently been scuppered by the broken off arm playing hide and seek 8n the car. Did discover numerous paper clips and an old style dummy trolley £1 coin.
Gift card free loaf from M&S, decidedly nicer for toast and soup but being a £1 dearer it should be.
