Flippin cold in the shade, an outside light has been trying to fall off the wall for a few weeks.
Refitted with wet n fix patched wrapped around the wall plugs then indoor for a mug of hot tea and a scone.

Hopefully the final car update for a few weeks as the RAC mechanic arrived only 30 minutes after the car had been unloaded from the breakdown truck which is either remarkable timing or sheer luck he didn't arrive earlier.

After I'd described the problems & warning lights, he opened the bonnet and immediately spotted the fault - a snapped alternator belt so I wasn't far off with my guess yesterday. I've been round to the garage and booked the additional work and a new battery during the service & MOT in March so the car's out of action until the 10th.

A complaint has already been submitted about the fiasco yesterday evening and the early hours of today with a request for them to refund the call out fee, today's train fare and to waive or refund in advance the call out fee for when I use them to move the car to the garage for the work.

I had an issue with the AA turning up in the early 1990s. Was heading east on the A59 when two cars in front fully slammed on their brakes using ABS, something my 205 did not have and I skidded into the car in front. Took hours for the AA to turn up despite advising them on the A59 west of the B6451, using some large lump that passed as a mobile that a stopped to assist driver had. Somehow that had been translated as on the B road south of the A59!

I just read that the compo for late train journeys is to be altered (in their favour, no doubt).
The 15/29 minutes late is to be done away with. Compo only starts @ 30 mins.

This afternoon I've picked up a van to help my father move house tomorrow.

It's big. And has done only 100 miles, although it'd have been helpful if the hire company had filled it with diesel.

It's big. And has done only 100 miles, although it'd have been helpful if the hire company had filled it with diesel.

I hired a big Budget van to move us from Delaware to Florida. It was filled with diesel, and when I took it to a place to return it, I had to fill it with diesel. They checked it to make sure I'd done that. It seems strange that you had to fill it up from the start.

Normal that a vehicle is full at start of a hire and then refilled when finished with so the hirer pays for the fuel used.
