I had planned a ride this morning but I a headache and feel tired and lethargic for no obvious reason. Hope I'm not taking something.

I have a friend who is recovering from a cancer operation. I had arranged to take her out somewhere to the coast in the car for a change of scenery in the afternoon.

I might just relax until then and hope my headache gets better.

In the meantime, my bottle of Windolene seems to have vanished from the cupboard under the sink where it should be.

Hydration is your friend.

Coffee break time before I do the kitchen floor.

Almost everything else has been done (just waiting for the bedding to finish washing before it goes on the clothes horse) and the car battery is on charge. This afternoon I will turn into a drug dealer for my mum - she called earlier and is laid up in bed with sciatica so I have to do a tour of the local pharmacies and supermarkets to get as many packs of paracetamol as possible to see her through for a few days.

snow storm has commenced. the jug is 12" tall & the little rubber duck glued to the lid adds about an inch

I measured 18" where the jug was about 2 hrs before the snow stopped. areas 50 miles south got over 30". the level ground on the side of our bldg was knee deep. I went snow shoeing down & around the pond

Sis is stranded on Cape Cod. her getaway turned a bit desperate. they lost power in their cabin before dark & their car is snowed in. they got into the main farmhouse w/ a larger propane fireplace, big couch & quilts. still can only charge phones w/ the car. she (we) like feeling the elements out on the cape, but this was a little more than she bargained for. there's a travel ban so I can't go rescue them, or bring them a hot meal, plus the highways are messed up because ppl were driving when they shouldn't have & got stuck at exit ramps, then trucks got stuck trying to go around them, then snow plows tipped over. lots of infrastructure problems in general. trees & power lines down, etc. there's an emergency shelter 5 miles away but they can't get to it. they'll be ok, the farmhouse handy man is there with them. there was a state wide travel ban yesterday, lifted today, but still in place on Cape Cod. if I tried to go help them I might be fined $500

There's genuine warmth in today's sun. (Obviously not in Massachusetts, amongst other places.)

A mostly successful day.

All housework done
Having had the car's battery on charge for a bit over three hours this morning, I unplugged the charger and tried starting the car - from not even clicking the starter motor last week it now starts and runs so I switched it off and will give it a full day's charge next week ready to take it to the garage for the work.
1 pharmacy visited for paracetamol for mum and 2 x 32 tablet packs were sold (I thought it was a 32 tablet maximum) and I picked up another couple of 16 tablet packs in each of the two shops I visited getting bits for myself. Add in the two packs I had at home and that should see her through for a while.
Free cake (chocolate cronut) picked up from Lidl
Most importantly - a bike ride in the sunshine and warm enough not to need long fingered gloves.

The only downside was the kitchen floor not drying in the 2.5 hours I was out, but a quick going over with a towel has sorted that out.

Morning work visits beyond Ripon and 5 mins out to visit Aldi for apples, 6 British Royal Galas for £1.09.
Followed a Romanian lorry back along the A61. Had a pricession of authorised maximum speed stickers on its back
50 was obvious but 70 80 90 presumably on km/h were not readily obvious as to where they applied.
Back home postie had delivered the £52 label to stick on the garden wheelie bin for the 3/4 of a years collections.
