My tnt / FedEx delivery was missed this morning so arranged for me to collect it tomorrow from the depot then later on this afternoon I got a notification that it had been delivered to a neighbour as we are in numpton overnight, upon checking yes our next door neighbour has it safe for me.
My post office parcel arrived this morning so that's good.
Now I just need to arrange collection for a parcel I need to send

A mild and grey day here chez Casa Reynard, but with a bit of sunshine late afternoon, which was nice.

Managed to get about six hours of reasonable sleep last night. Got all the basic chores out of the way quickly. My friend Linda dropped by with some bits for me, and I gave her a load of fruit that I'm not going to eat. Also sorted out some stuff that needed going into black bag waste, and a stack of books to take to the book exchange in the village - where I got them from in the first place.

After, I went into the garden to to a bit of lumberjilling - that resulted in three wheelbarrows of mixed oak and ash wood. That was all sorted by size and put into the appropriate storage bins. I store wood graded by size, from kindling up to big lumps for overnight. That way it's easy to keep track of what is needed. Though of course, I can make big stuff smaller if need be.

Lovely luncheon of avocado on toast and a :cuppa:

Topped up the firewood bins in the house, and made a start on the paperwork that I *can* do. Then it was off to Littleport on Wiggy #2, the Chartres, to notify the quack and cancel the prescription that I was due to pick up this afternoon anyway. They were really lovely in the surgery. It was nice to get out for a ride, albeit a slow one.

Need to think about something to eat this evening, and feed Madam Boo.

Make Lists then decided which need doing now and which can wait till later. Once you can go and see the Registrar , they often give you some information about who to contact and how. The green form they give you is for you to give to the funeral director that's the only official form they ask for. With certificates they give you one but it's handy to buy a couple of extra copies. Then you've got at leat one handy if you've sent the other off. If you do have to send them off , make it clear you want them back. Some placers don't always send them back. Less official placers are often happy to take a photocopy.

I have a list. And my friend Linda has been helping me - she worked for Citizen's Advice for 25 years, and she's very Au Fait with what needs to be done. She's been brilliant, she really has.

The car has been driven to the garage accompanied by the constant sound of a warning beep for the internal battery (I eloop system) being charged as it's been stood unused for a long time. The owner's manual suggests leaving the engine idling for five minutes to let the system charge, but with no drive belt for the water pump and alternator I could put up with the beeping for half a mile.

I dread to think of the final cost, especially with the new battery alone being around £300. Just hope that a) they can do all the work in one day, and b) the trains are on time as I won't get back from London until 17:20, the garage closes at 17:30 and it's a 5 minute walk from the station.

Time for the evening's hot chocolate and then possibly an earlyish night.

It was a nice day, but not particularly warm.

First working day of the week completed. It was about as inspiring as as eating a dish of cold, lumpy custard. Only another twenty year or so before I can retire

Time for an early night with a book for company. I know how to live it up!

I'm having a couple of nights away in North Yorkshire in a spa hotel. We're in a giant attic suite/room somewhere at the far end of this ramshackle place south of York.

Dinner was :mrpig: and a trip is planned for tomorrow.
