A sunny, but chilly and blustery day here chez Casa Reynard.

Another night of only five hours sleep. Not fun. That equated to another early morning :cuppa: and some writing done whilst sat in bed. Threw some clothes on at a more appropriate hour and did the chores. Also prepped another black bag full of stuff to take to the clothes bank. The Grand Sort Out has led to me discovering some of *my* stuff at the back of mum's storage spaces. I've also got a stack of old t-shirts to cut up for rags and the like.

Had a lovely luncheon of smoked mackerel on toast, a tangerine and a :cuppa: whilst watching some horse racing.

Then out in the garden to haul in some more firewood on account of tomorrow's rain. I did bring some in (a heaped wheelbarrow), but not as much as I'd have liked, as the storm we had the other day has brought down two large trees near where I had been working - an ash and a cherry. A fair bit of time was spent looking at how best to tackle the problem. There's a lot of interlocking branches going on, so looks like one went and took the other down with it.

Seems like the saturated soil is partly to blame, as both root balls have been uprooted, and there's about six inches of water in the craters. Irritatingly, I can't use either for "ready to go" firewood as the wood is green - it will have to be cut and stacked for future use instead. That said, given the size of both, there is enough wood to see me through the majority of next winter. There is some ivy to clear, but the fact that neither is in leaf makes my task so much easier. And the wood will dry faster too.

Spent the late afternoon / early evening listening to Arsenal v Everton. Now about to pop supper in the poppity ping and watch thirty blokes playing with a funny-shaped ball.

Time for a :cuppa: and MOTD
