Do you know if there is a railway station, in Suffolk, that has a level crossing at each end of a platform?

I'm stumped too, I'm afraid.

On Thursdays there is a programme/podcast that I regularly watch called "Green Signals". This is a weekly broadcast about anything train related, including heritage railways, new networks etc.

At the end of the programme there is a quiz. This week's was, "Which mainline railway station in Britain has a level crossing at both ends of the platform?"

I first thought about Crianlarich, in Scotland. Someone looked up on goggle that it could be in Suffolk.

The prize is a "Green Signals" mug if you have the correct answer and your name is the first pulled out of the hat.

According to AI...

That unique distinction belongs to Halesworth railway station on the East Suffolk Line.

While several stations in Suffolk have a level crossing at one end of the platform (like Westerfield or Stowmarket), Halesworth historically featured a setup so constrained by space that it required a very unusual engineering solution.

I don't think Crianlarich is in Suffolk! I'm sure it was in Scotland the last time I went there!

Good morning from what was up to a few minutes ago sunny Suffolk. Coffee has been had after a very poor night's sleep - I feel like I may have the start of a cold

Today will be a domestics day followed by a quick trip to Morrisons for this week's food shopping.
