Just waiting for the rain to start as the radar show's it not far off.

Everything needing to be done has been done for another week or so which is good as I'm planning on having a couple of days out this week and there's a couple of away days next week. In addition to all the regular domestics I've finally changed the shower curtain as I don't think the washing machine on a hot wash would remove the limescale stains this time.

The homebound train ticket & bike reservation have also been picked up ready for Tuesday. I'll sort the outbound ticket in the morning when I decide which of the two start points I'm going to.

May I ask another question?

Greg James is doing a challenge to raise funds for Comic Relief. Setting aside any opinions you may have about Comic Relief, who is paying for the Police escort, including eight (I think) motorcycle out-riders and two vehicles?
Unlike the TDF which is all proved by the French Police, I remember well seeing them driving up the M1 in formation on the way to central meeting up point at our near by services. National event Police escort like we had on the TDY is a national unit made up of all the forcers and it's officers from across the country. Not sure which force is the lead , I'm guessing costs are central. Unless it's VIP escort like royals then it's the MET's special escort group.

In this case having watched a bit they do look very police like , having had a close look they are being provided by which ever event company the BBC have got to plan it and support it. I've also clock a medi bake which again is private. Having done some digging It turns out none police event escort/marshalling fall into 2 sorts , either companies who employ "police accredited traffic officers" who via approval of chief constables. Can legally manage traffic at events. The other sort are more like trained motorcycle marshals with no formal legal power. Like you see at British cycling events.

A grey and breezy day here chez Casa Reynard, with the odd light rain shower.

Slept better - got six hour this time. But still up earlier than usual, so took a :cuppa: back to bed and sat in bed writing and doing admin. Finally have a straight reply - in English - from the coroner, and things *should* go smoothly from hereon in. But me being me, I'm still expecting things to go *sploot*

Managed to do a decent chunk on my novel, and I think I'm going to keep this first bit of the morning for my writing time. I arose at a more sensible hour and did all the chores before doing some more sewing. Madam Boo is *very* interested in the process, but she's still a bit wary of the sewing machine.

Broke off for a lovely luncheon of toast, one with hummus, one with brie, plus a tangerine and a :cuppa:

After, took four bags of clothes to the clothes bank in the village. I never realised mum had so many jumpers! Most of them are not suitable for charity shop donation (my friend Linda volunteers at one in town) but are still very serviceable. I need to look to see if there's one of those schemes around here, where you can leave warm clothing for people in need simply to help themselves.

Bagged up another two lots, and then went into the garden to do an hour's lopper and secateur-level lumberjilling. I've made a nice start on trimming up some branches from one of the two trees that came down the other day. Tomorrow, I can take the chainsaw to turn them into logs, and put those logs into storage to dry out.

Now sat by the fire with a :cuppa: and thinking about what I might like to cook for supper.

Not as much rain as expected this afternoon which means the roads should be in a fairly decent condition for tomorrow's ride. Still a bit bunged up and headachy but there's a promised tail wind so I shouldn't have to put too much effort in apart from a short, sharp lump on leaving Stowmarket train station.

Time for the evening's hot chocolate and to put some porridge in to soak ready for Tuesday's breakfast.

On Thursdays there is a programme/podcast that I regularly watch called "Green Signals". This is a weekly broadcast about anything train related, including heritage railways, new networks etc.

At the end of the programme there is a quiz. This week's was, "Which mainline railway station in Britain has a level crossing at both ends of the platform?"

I first thought about Crianlarich, in Scotland. Someone looked up on goggle that it could be in Suffolk.

The prize is a "Green Signals" mug if you have the correct answer and your name is the first pulled out of the hat.
Motspur Park or Elsenham railway station in Essex.
