Spindles bike shop in Corsham is a nice place. I took my friend's bike over yesterday to see if they could remove the drive side BB cup . They did. It needed a 5ft long scaffolding pole to shift it. I went back in the afternoon with my Pinarello frame which also had a BB to be removed, Campag. They let me borrow a tool. I took it back later after having got the cups to move. Sadly it seems as though they are seized up inside as when I unscrew one side the other side winds in.

I had an Irish themed Bismarck this morning, with green frosting. Because all the other donuts were green through and through.
I also voted in the primary election today. The election in my precinct was held in a former Baptist Church, now some sort of independent congregation.

a jelly donut? regular jelly, not green?

yeah those go down easy, don't they?

Good morning from Suffolk where it's blue skies and sunshine today. The house battery has already been topped up and electricity is being exported to the grid thanks to the solar panels.

Coffee has been had after a very good night's sleep - I was out for 8.5 hours thanks to a combination yesterday's ride and my body trying to rid itself of the cold I've picked up. As much as I'd like to go out to enjoy the sunshine, a day pottering around at home is called for. Having cut the grass a couple of weeks ago, I think I'm going to go over it with an electric rake and then get the mower out again to pick up the dead stuff lifted by the rake.

The local bicycle shop had moved. It is now in larger premises on an industrial estate, which gives them more parking and easy drop off for bicycles.

I should add that they do bespoke bike builds, and some of the frames in the windows, are extremely spendy. (Please note that is the bicycle frames, I have no idea of the cost of the window frames).

Surprisingly, the premises they have vacated will still be a bicycle shop with new owners. People who turn up at the smaller shop can be directed to the new shop. I presume all the shop fittings will still be useful for all things related to cycling.

Has someone realised that there is the market for both shops?

I took my friend's bike for a road test, all was going well until I started changing up through the gears. 4th ,5th ,6th and it started jumping. Why didn't he tell me he had problems. I returned home and swapped the wheel for a 7 speed wheel which I had and set off again. All was fine and no jumping. When I got back I had a close look at the sprockets on the wheel I took off. Burrs on the teeth! Yes been grinding away in too high a gear. He does it in his cars as well. A phone call to the LBS in Corsham and a drive over there for them to fit a new block.
I will fit the wheel after I've had a nap.
