Knackered. Our eves/soffits have needed a paint for a while. We replaced the original ones about 10 years ago with the same design (see pics) - we copied them. We originally cut them on the ground, painted, then got a joiner to fit them (there was no way I was going up scaffolding or ladders).

So a few weeks ago, I scrubbed them all with a degreaser solution using an extending 7m pole with a brush.

Move on to this morning, found a sanding attachment in Wickes, so sanded off loose paint using said gadget on the big stick. I was going to tape a battery sander to it, but this worked.

Then onto fixing a small roller to said 'stick' and off I went.

Decision finally made and I ended up doing a fairly quick 42 miles on the best bike. Warm but nowhere near as oppressive as it was on Tuesday and a cooling breeze coming off the North Sea near the coast.

I'm now enjoying the slouching in the deck chair in the back garden option with a cold glass of orange squash.

I know I shouldn't as I don't really have the space , it's nothing like my normal sort of bike, a 2-3 hour drive each way for collection and it probably wouldn't get ridden much. However it just looks so good and if it's still unsold at the end of June and the seller is open to a cheeky offer...

The other thing is that a Guvnor will make you friends. It's like Brompton. People notice it and take an interest.

There's a youth hostel about forty miles away from me that has recently re-opened for the first time since COVID. I'm selling myself the idea of an overnighter on the Guvnor with saddlebag. I think it might be a nice way to put a few miles on it and take a different route home the next day.

I do hanker after a Sovereign too. I love pottering about the minor roads on my 1951 Rudge. It's the perfect antidote to modern life. The problem is the complete absence of usable brakes if there is even the slightest bit of rain. I think a Sovereign should ride the same but with drum brakes, it will actually stop too when required!

New exhaust pressure sensor has been fitted to the car & the associated pipework has been cleaned out.
I might have mentioned before... I hate doing car mechanic stuff!! 😕
