What are peeps thoughts on using the A418 Oxford to Aylesbury, A41 Hemel Hempstead, St Alban's, Hertford to Harlow and pick up the M11 to Ipswich? We are heading towards Sutton Hoo.
Thanks.
The M11 doesn't go anywhere near Ipswich - Suffolk is one of those counties that doesn't have any motorways in its boundaries

If you do follow your suggested route, come off the M11 at Stansted Airport junction and follow the A120 eastbound to the A12 at Marks Tey, then A12 to Ipswich, A14 to south of Ipswich and rejoin the A12 3 junctions after the Orwell Bridge (signposted for Woodbridge & Lowestoft). After a couple of dozen roundabouts, you'll find one on the outskirts of Woodbridge signposted for Orford & Rendlesham (A1152) with a brown tourist Sutton Hoo label.

Boring (and probably most congested) route - M40 & M25 to A12 (junction 28) then A12 northbound to Ipswich as above

It's a long drive for a day trip.

It's been a day of gales, sunshine and biblical grade showers here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well enough I guess. Still feel pretty lousy thanks to lady issues. Downstairs, fed the cat, made a :cuppa: and took it upstairs to do some writing. Working on a couple of different projects just to add variety and to give my brain a time to think.

Down at a better hour. Did the chores, and then spent an hour or so sorting through cutlery and kitchenalia. I have a box of stuff for the scrap metal bin at the tip.

A lovely luncheon of a chunk of salt & pepper baguette filled with luncheon meat, raspberries & blueberries with yoghurt and my little pot of tea. And two paracetamol.

Had an afternoon doing various little bits. Have prepped some paper for a bit of artwork. Some of my acrylic paints have dried up or are empty, so a trip to the art shop in town will be needed. And sorted through a large bin liner full of handbags. Half of them are tip bound as they need far more work doing to them than they are actually worth. The other half need a second look.

Having a quiet evening in front of the TV.

Sad news for son no. 1 whose new young cat was hit by a car on Tuesday and died. Someone kindly stopped and took it to the vet, who were excellent with him. He'd only had the cat since last autumn and it was settling in nicely.

Oh noes! At least someone stopped for the poor wee toot and took him to the vet xxx So sorry to see this xxx :hugs:
