Hot! Might have to locate downstairs for WAH tomorrow as their is a north facing room noticably cooler now than that upstairs I was using.
Washing dried in express time this morning and postie delivered the credit card bills. Something I was looking forward to as an electric road bike now ordered. Maxed out one card. In fact it wouldn't go through as with the current debt the inclusion of a mudguard bridge was too much. Not sure that was actually needed as the mudguards that fit on the road bike don't make use of one. Delivery by Friday next week apparently.

It is ridiculously hot all day.:heat:

It looks like my immediate manager has got promotion and will be leaving us at the start of August. Will be interesting to see if a new manager will make things any better.

I was at the induction thing for volunteers for the local arts festival after work. T-shirts are dark blue this year which is an improvement on last year's florescent green. I guess it's the sponsors who choose these things.

Just not to tempt me to go into the office they sent out a reminder today not to open the windows. Theres forced cooling system that stores cooler overnight and disperses during the day until it run out...
Have a meeting in their at 11 on Friday, might well be a 10.55 arrival for it.
Waitrose shopped this evening, had run out of reduced sugar marmalade this morning and found 2 packs of scones dated tomorrow on yellow labels
Thence Asda with what might be the penultimate £5 off £15 app voucher and this time 30p over.

It's been a scorchio and humid day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept surprisingly well, and woke up to a face full of cat hair, as Madam Boo had decided to sleep on my bed for once. Downstairs, fed the cat, made a :cuppa: and took it upstairs to do some writing. Managed to do a reasonable amount as I'm getting the hang of this plot bunny at last.

Did the chores. While I was watering the planters, I spotted some chaps and chapesses from Anglian Water dealing with a leak that's waterlogged my across-the-road neighbour's field. They were all wrapped up in high viz PPE and looked rather boiled in the bag. So popped over to see if they didn't want a big jug of cold squash to share.

They didn't - the foreman showed me the flats of bottled water in the van, but at least I asked. It was not a nice day to be digging big holes in the road. Heck, it was 30C in the shade, no idea what it was like in the sun, but my drive is usually a good 10 to 12 degrees hotter than the shade reading.

Had a lovely luncheon of wholemeal toast with the last of the luncheon meat, fruit jelly with greek yoghurt, and a pot of tea. I made the jelly last night with half a block of Hartley's strawberry jelly made up as per instructions, with a fruit compote made from some very tired-looking soft fruit (strawberries, raspberries & blueberries) folded through it prior to setting.

Decided not to do any gardening as it was simply too hot, but as there was a nice breeze blowing through the gate, I sat in the shade with the laptop with a cold drink and carried on with the writing.

Have had an evening of football and Deadliest Catch.

Supper was a pasta salad with tuna, sweetcorn, onion, cucumber, parsley and cherry tomatoes.

Now enjoying a nice :cuppa:

A very hot & sticky shopping ride this morning. Noticeable how empty the ice cream and ice lolly freezer cabinets were in Lidl.

My next door neighbour spent the whole afternoon doing DIY - I think he's redoing the bathroom and seems to be making a lot of bits himself judging by the noises from the back garden. Crazy thing to be doing on the hottest day of the year so far and I didn't envy him one bit from my position in the deck chair in the shade with a magazine in one hand and a cold drink in the other.

The non-recycling wheelie bin has been moved to the front of the house ready for emptying in the morning.

I had a hopsital appointment this afternoon. The waiting room and the treatment room were pleasantly cool.

The procedure took longer than usual as the Nurse wanted to show a student nurse how to administer the injections, two of them are not the standard "sharp scratch" and its over. Found a parking space easily, and no queue to get out of the car park.

I was in Tesco yesterday and I couldn't tell whether the ice cream shelves were completely empty because the fridges had broken down or because everybody had bought every single item.

I went to take the bike out of the car after my weekend adventure and discovered I had a flat wheel. Seemed to be a tiny bit of flint had worked itself through the tyre. Tube patched now, but whatever it is about those tyres, they are very awkward to centre on the rim. I'll have another go tomorrow as it's getting dark now.
