A warm and blustery day here chez Casa Reynard, and one that turned nice and sunny after a grey start.
Did not sleep well. Was woken up at silly o'clock by a cat who'd decided that she quite enjoyed spending time pouncing on and chewing my feet because they were sticking out from the bottom of the duvet. Owie! Anyways, have felt a bit meh today as a result, but still dealing with the snot deluge thanks to the high pollen count.
So downstairs, fed the cat, made a

and took it upstairs to do some writing. Did a really good chunk on the project for the parish magazine / community orchard. Writing up the notes on the various apples is easy. It are the recipes that are absolute stinkers - a lot of them I cook from memory and measure stuff by eye, and so I have to really think when putting them into document form.
Came back downstairs at a better hour and cleared the chores. Planters were watered, and tomatoes were picked. Did some photo editing as well.
Had a lovely luncheon of avocado on toast, some raspberries, a golden kiwi fruit and a small pot of tea.
After, went out to sort out some errands. First stop was the community orchard to take more apple photos for the above project, and to pick some more plums so I can make a spot of jam. Stopped off at the book exchange to drop off some bits I didn't want, but have ended up with three more cook books, albeit the one on mug cakes is a duplicate for a friend's daughter who is a keen baker.
Then it was off into town. First stop was Waitrose for a YS mooch - got lucky and picked up two of their No1 kippers and some of their No1 chilli & fennel sausages cheaply off the counter. Will freeze one kipper and make pate with the other. The sausages will make a nice ragu for pasta. Next stop was B&M, where a new brush to clean the kitchen sink was acquired on account of the old one having shed its bristles. Last stop was Aldi for bread, butter, fresh ginger and some chocolate that I spotted last time I was in there and wanted to try. Got lucky on YS there too, picking up a large packet of wholemeal rolls in lieu of bread, and two packets of black pudding.
Home to a quiet evening of catching up on the Great British Sewing Bee. Also put the blue recycling bin and the food caddy out for emptying in the morning.
A tasty supper of egg & vegetable fried rice, with grilled tofu.
Will chill for the rest of the evening, but I do need to do the washing up.
