It's been a pleasant and mostly sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.
Slept really well, and that was after the hour long nap I had with Madam Boo last night. Downstairs, fed the cat, made myself a
and took it upstairs to work on the writing. I ran my backstory for Henry past someone involved with the VSCC to see if it would wash. It does, so really happy with the research I've done these last few days. It also meshes nicely with Poots' character profile too.
Did the chores at a better hour. Spent a good chunk of the morning removing the outer husks from the walnuts I foraged yesterday. Most of the husks were split, so it was just a matter of peeling them off. Some aren't so will have to tackle that with a veg knife. Spread the peeled nuts out in the sun to start drying - they will lose about 30% of their mass as they dry.
The next task was to tackle the replacement of the service valve on the utility room water heater. After a bit of faffage, I was semi-successful. Insomuch that with the valve closed, I have no leaks *below* the valve, which means that I can finally use the washing machine.
Now that's a luxury! I don't *mind* hand washing laundry, but the drying's a right arse.
With the valve open, that's a totally different story.
But then I noticed that there's an extra piece that I should have added between the valve and threaded extension. Whoops! I shall rectify that at some point. 
Had a very late luncheon of toast with cheese & Polish sausage, greek yoghurt with pear & honey, and a small pot of tea.
Spent the rest of the afternoon carrying on with giving the grass a haircut.
Going to have a nice quiet evening in front of the TV.
