Home and waiting for the kettle to boil after an uneventful trip back from Newcastle. Sunny all the way and surprisingly warm and breezy whilst not on the trains.

Not much needed doing with the overnight bag other than to put the used smalls into the washing basket and replace with a clean pair to make it ready for the next outing on Friday.

I may have a couple of slices of toast to go with the coffee and that (plus a bag of crisps later on) will do me for the day.

Washing dried quickly on the whirlygig even though it almost took off in the windy conditions 😂

Mixed day of sun, overcast, rain and gusty winds. Stayed dry for a post WFH Tesco trek to drop off plastic bags and acquire bananas, apple pies and a TV guide, albeit moisture was present on the wind as I got home.
Lunchtime hospital appointment was prompt and I was back home in time for FedEx to deliver right at the end of their estimated 9-1 timing the batteries and their case/charger for the new sportscam.

Good morning from a lower ground floor hotel room in mostly sunny Newcastle. Still damp underfoot after early morning rain.

The usual oversized cooked breakfast has been had along with a rest to let everything settle. Setting off for the train station in about 5 minutes and I'm not looking forward to the steep flight of steps from the riverside to the station with the extra weight of breakfast in my stomach.
Isn't that also known as the basement?
Didn't realise they'd rooms down there.

It's been a warm, sunny and very blustery day here chez Casa Reynard after overnight rain.

Slept well after a bit of a late night. Got sidetracked browsing gentlemen's accoutrements on the 'bay, looking for a potential cake day present for a very close friend. Anyways, downstairs, fed the cat, made myself a :cuppa: and took it back upstairs to do some writing.

Chores done at a better hour. Had a serious snaccident involving a packet of custard creams, hence only fruit and a small pot of tea for luncheon.

After, spent the afternoon in the garden lumberjilling. A smashed up bullace turned into two large wheelbarrows of logs and one of smaller wood.

An evening in front of the football is planned.

I lived in Eltham Park until I was 18. Should really revisit my old haunts there some time.. ( including the palace & Sevendroog castle.)

Yes you should i‘m guessing as the Army only moved out in the 1990’s you never got to look around? English Heritage looked after the great hall from 1984 and the rest since 1995. The house is now fully restored. Just as the Courtaulds had it, Art deco in all its glory. The gardens are worth a look too. They had a love of gardening and lied it out room style. The rock garden is a highlight along with the original moat. Not forgetting the many stories of Mah-jongg their pet lemor. With his own heated purpose built sleeping quarters. Inc a ladder to down stairs as he had free run of the house and garden.

The Great hall alone is worth a look. As a Royal Place it’s an interesting history. Henry Vlll lived at the place until 14. So loved it and spent a mint on the place. Sadly over time over kings lost interest. So it’s all that left of the Place.
