Glad you're ok darkstar. I hope your friends are doing what they can to make it up to you and your parents, although I recokon that at 21 they're probably still laughing until any remaining drink flushes out their nostrils!!!!

No, it just condones going out and having fun with beer every once in a while. And drinking heavily is a normal part of growing up, or at least, it should be.

Hope you took a hat, scarf, gloves and a decent coat with you? Its OK getting drunk as long as your warm, but if you haven't got any of the above with you because its uncool to wear them then your stupid.

There was a guy who had a skin full, he decided to walk home after a night out without a coat, he was found dead the next day with hypothermia.

That is why I don't understand why people go out in freezing weather wearing nothing but a thin belt.

Oh yes It was just around village pubs, so had coat, scald, hat and gloves on. We were walking home (3 miles) instead of drink driving obviously! Had som alcahol with us to drink on the way. Suppose it's a country bumkin pub crawl As for taking my drink, I know I'm a wuss...

What makes it big and clever once a decade?

Er- nothing. When I was Darkstar's age I used to stick 10 pints down my neck several times a year, which was a bit of an issue given that I am not much more than 10 pints high. If I try to do it now, the alarming thing is that the pints go down just as fast but it takes me days to recover.

I have never been vomit-out-of-the-nose drunk, and hardly ever leg-plaiting drunk. There doesn't seem a lot of point and unpleasant things can happen to you in that state.

dropped to 32 degrees last night, was out for my birthday and got massively drunk. Paramedics were called and took the temperature. Pretty scary stuff, considering i can't remember anything. My mates sorted it all out thankfully otherwise i would have been a goner.

Oh and thank you to the people who responded in a polite manor, i appreciate it.
As for those who seem to be shocked and disgusted people get drunk on their 21st birthday, then you just provided me with the exact responses i was expecting to receive from this place! I bet none of you have ever been drunk before, if so, please go back to reading the Guardian.

I've only once been so drunk that I 'lost' time - I remember being at the party, and being at home, but have never had any recollection of the walk inbetween - fortunately I had a friend with me. That was the result of a rather strong punch, of the 'chuck a bottle of everything in' style. I hope now I'd have the sense to stop when I felt pretty drunk, no matter what I thought I was drinking - and that's only 10 years on...

Yeah - its interesting this drinking lark...and who doesnt keep on learning - considering the time of year...etc..the theory/practice is this: if your drinking slower than mates - AND if you feel yourself on the slant of p@ssdom (try 'the 30 second-turn your head effect' in other words: if it feels like it took 30secs to turn your head from left to right naturally even though it was normal movement)...then YOU ARE ON THE WAY: SOO: - when it comes to your friends needing another drink yet you don't and need to lessen the drink then buy the next round...so you'll get off/miss - with at least, however many's in the round...so you should be able to slow the drinking - obviously this is not fool proof as more macho friends may realise and call you a lightweight...and it could be back to square one
