Even more impressive, 320 miles in 3 days.

Oh, to be able to count again.

Sounds impressive and they're obviously working as a group - things always settle down and strengths and weaknesses of each become apparent to the others. At the pace they're going they should make it to Lands End by next Sunday without a problem - technicals and weather being favourable.
@HarryTheDog you say they are not assisted - they seem to be travelling incredibly light from the photo? Good on them.

Ok day 4, 114 miles arrived in Carlisle ok apart from one of girls knees has been playing up and has been strapped up as a precaution.
Slight delay this morning 2 hrs to find some chamois cream as they have gone through my daughters stock of it. Found it in halfords of all places.
@puffinbilly , yes totally unsupported, none own a bike that takes panniers so they have gone mainly for the seatpost saddle bag option. They have to wash kit every couple of days.
Another picture!

Day 5 over half way there already. 99 miles today and nearly 2,000 metre of ascent. A slower slog today with them finising at around 21:00 in Morecambe. They stopped a lot more today due to the hills and I guess its starting to bite a bit. They are doing really well on thier non touring bikes and lack of experience.
A picture of Morecambe

That's impressive @HarryTheDog some serious climbing - they haven't avoided the climbs Good luck to them the weather seems to be in their favour for a few more days yet.

Is that Morecambe - it looks like Bowness on Windermere to me?

Whoops. I read the subject and thought 'so do mine'

Anyway, we'll done to them all. It's one hell of an achievement and I'm sure they've all learned from the experience. Good luck to them. I hope it inspires them to more challenges and adventures.

@puffinbilly I think you are right, the time she sent it they were probably in the lakes. She had no internet last night and all I have to report is day 6 106 miles and they reached Ellesmere
which had a prophetic sign for them to take a picture ( gives the distance to lands end and John O Groats.) All still doing well and feeling good. Only 4 days to go and I am off to Cornwall today to meet them at the end and catch up with family. ( I am from cornwall originally)

Day 8 110 miles and lots of rain. They were on the road till nearly 22:00. Daughteer sounded very tired and fed up and did not want to talk about it. I will find out more on Friday no doubt.
@sultzer it is unsupported as no one is carrying kit for them, they are travelling light. They are staying at friends and hostels.

Just returned from cornwall. ( no wifi) They all finished as happly cyclists. They did 106 miles on day 9 and finsished off day 10 with 103. Total 1022 miles 17,747 metres of ascent.
I was waiting for lots of stories but got hardly any. Only 3 punctures between the 4 of them, no abuse from anyone, just some encouragement really. One of the girls did manage to fall of 3 times ( all slow and no damage) They got semi lost once, they had to change accomodation once at the last moment due to the host suddenly being unable to put them up and they had to cycle to 22:00 to a alternative, but that was it.
Scotland was inspiring scenery and Devon was hard work. If she does it agin she may use a triple instead of a double chainset.
In Scotland a random cyclist spoke to them , turned out to be a ex pro cyclist called Callum Gough, due to his age my daughter asked if he knew Bob Downs ( local cycling celebrity in Essex) and sure enough he raced with him back in the day.
Then in a youth hostel they got talking to a lady who was organising a charity ride, turned out she had been imprisoned and tortured in Botswana.
So overall it went very smoothly. Shows you dont need to train for a year or use expensive kit, ( most expensive bike was 1,100 quid, 2 were specialised Allez).
Next year they might do the easy route LEJOG

Two more P's

Planning prevents piss poor performance
Prior planning prevents piss poor planning.. Frankly I find it hard to believe that the OP daughter did not check out the the other riders before hand to to ensure they were up to the same high standard and skill level as she was. Guess there will be a clash of personality pretty damm soon.
