Just returned from cornwall. ( no wifi) They all finished as happly cyclists. They did 106 miles on day 9 and finsished off day 10 with 103. Total 1022 miles 17,747 metres of ascent.
I was waiting for lots of stories but got hardly any. Only 3 punctures between the 4 of them, no abuse from anyone, just some encouragement really. One of the girls did manage to fall of 3 times ( all slow and no damage) They got semi lost once, they had to change accomodation once at the last moment due to the host suddenly being unable to put them up and they had to cycle to 22:00 to a alternative, but that was it.
Scotland was inspiring scenery and Devon was hard work. If she does it agin she may use a triple instead of a double chainset.
In Scotland a random cyclist spoke to them , turned out to be a ex pro cyclist called Callum Gough, due to his age my daughter asked if he knew Bob Downs ( local cycling celebrity in Essex) and sure enough he raced with him back in the day.
Then in a youth hostel they got talking to a lady who was organising a charity ride, turned out she had been imprisoned and tortured in Botswana.
So overall it went very smoothly. Shows you dont need to train for a year or use expensive kit, ( most expensive bike was 1,100 quid, 2 were specialised Allez).
Next year they might do the easy route LEJOG
