Well, my thoughts are that your colleagues should have fixed the flat for you full stop
When I first started commuting, I did not carry any tools (before joining CChat, he, he!), my saddle was moving, needed tightening up, so I got my work's joiner to come over with a suitable spanner

... and now, during CC, there are times when some patches and a pump would be useful ....

;) ^_^ :hugs:

I don't know about other Halfords branches but the one in Enfield is full of mongs.
Never had any thing but trouble with them, thought that I would order online as didn't want to deal with them.
Ha ha worst online buying experience ever.
Parcel never arrived had to pretend I was under advice from trading standards institute before they as a good will gesture released it from the verification process!
I'm sure there are good branches/staff out there in the Halfords universe but it's a bit like life on another planet.
You know it's statistically probably , definitely possible but you just don't know whether you believe it or not.
So a Halfords employee who rides to work with out any spares/tools/pump/patches isn't really a surprise.

Surely you could have taken an inner tube and paid for it the next day? As long as you let someone else know that would have been all above board?

In the LBS a while back, some bloke brought his bike back in to get a puncture repaired. Fair enough - but then he complains to the owner that he'd only bought it from the shop last week and this sort of thing shouldn't happen on a new bike!

I am the most unprepared cyclist ever. I need to start carrying more than my mobile phone and a few quid that's for sure.
Its nice to get up and ride without preperation or stacks and stacks of kit.

However, in reality it ends up being a royal pain and the best solution for a commute is to just hoik the lot around with you.

Dull I know, but riding to work isn't all about pure fun, it has a function to perform as well, so best to expect the worst and carry at least a pump, two tubes, 3 tyre levers and a spoke tool.

Clearly daring to venture out for a mile ride without any provisions, with my destination being a bike shop, makes me a mong.

Copper cyclist - I kind of thought they might let me, but I didn't actually go so far as to ask, I am kind of pushing my luck at the moment. I've just had about £80 worth of stuff done "under warranty".
Anyway, I'm proud to say I fixed the puncture today, pumped up the tyre and rode the bike to work - with the pump and patches, just in case.

Well done, Sandra: I used my other bike today after an unfortunate deflation yesterday, but I'm gonna follow your example in about 10 minutes, after a cuppa :pump:

Had the same problem this evening. Had my bike a month and got my first puncture though in a rush to get out of the house this morning forgot half my kit including my lights which annoyingly I needed at 6pm this evening! Needed rescuing from the Mrs

Mananged to fix the puncture this evening which took me an hour and a half, first puncture ive had to do in about 10 years! Glad I sorted it myself though!
