Good stuff - you did well to keep your call after such a blatant punishment pass.

I would also (easy for me to say, I know!) have tried to explain why I was in the middle of the road - potholes in this case, but could also have been pinch point, blind corner, narrow &c., rather than "I am allowed to ride wherever I want"

I'll accept the first paragraph as the 'poor humour', but you make another dig in the 'Seriously though..' one. Are you referring to anyone in particular here? I have been known to wear a headcam, but wouldn't consider myself a 'head-cam wearing idiot' or 'trying to right wrongs whilst never seeing my own faults'.

Please try to avoid sweeping generalisations!

The whole post was a poor attempt at humour re one of the contributors in particular on this site. It was in no way meant to be any kind of generalisation against Headcams/users/cyclists etc. It was aimed at one poster  And in jest!!!

ANother one of my posts elsewhere then does go on to suggest that I, and others, have probably been slightly out of order in constantly picking up on ONE members mistakes and posts - including constant links to videos where.... you can guess can't you?

I do try and stick little smiley faces everywhere in the hope that no offence is caused - and not just as a cop out; so.... apologies if you didn't get the attempt at humour. I was probably still slightly out of order and hence my other post elsewhere.

So - for the avoidance of doubt; not generalising at all. Sorry if that didn't come across. If you 'got' the point of the post - it would have been more obvious....

And the 'seriously though...' part was genuinely 'praising' the chap concerned. Not in any way sarcastic and I do believe that his approach will have helped the whole situation with Bikes vs Cars etc. Again, maybe needs clarification in the future.

You can't just hurl insults and tired stereotypes around and expect it to be ok because you stuck a smiley at the end and said it was a joke. Think about it next time.

We'll I though Slaav's post echo's the opinions of other forum users who are unlikely to post for the sake of getting shouted down by those who have many more posts so I say give the guy a break its his opinion - However the use of head cams can be beneficial especially in helping where doubt may form the defence in said accidents so if anything the term of "all head cam wearing idiots" should have been phrased better but in esscence higlights the point that the perception from some on here is that helmet cam wearers can come across as anti motorised vehicle protesters which of course Im sure only applies to the few not the majority and before I get shouted at its JMO:boxing:

I will try once more to throw an apology in your direction. I wont link to the actual post where I suggested that 'we' cut the guy concerned some slack as that will only add fuel to the flames of this side issue.

When I wound my neck in a bit and realised that the chap concerned might be feeling persecuted a little, then I posted this:

"These posts, threads and forum(fora?) are very useful for all and should always be welcoming to all. Let's remember that and try not to pick on anyone too much shall we?

(As I said, I will try and live by that as well....)"

I was also shot down (in jest I hope) for behaving like a 'dad'... you cannot win sometimes?

ANyway, I am going to (for the avoidance of any doubt whatsoever) apologise to those I may have offended, those I have yet to offend and also those I intend to offend

I can honestly say that I have never posted something on a forum or thread that I wouldnot happily say to someone's face in a pub or coffee shop. FAce to face, little subtleties are much easier to pick up? WIll think twice - sorry, thrice next time!

WIll leave that point there now as it is an unwlecome distraction from the main thread topic.

And maybe we should all be less passively aggressive eh?

Still think the OP did well all things being considered.

Apology accepted, I just think it's fair to say many of us cam users are getting somewhat tired of regularly being berated and tarred with this brush that somehow we're a bunch of militant nutters deliberately looking for trouble, and that the incidents are usually our fault anyway or something.

Most times anyone posts footage of anything there'll be several people calling them dicks for doing so, or whenever any footage ends up going viral outside the forum there'll be numerous people saying "I know him off cyclechat, he's an attention seeking ****" or suchlike.

We'll I though Slaav's post echo's the opinions of other forum users who are unlikely to post for the sake of getting shouted down

For me it seems like they were echoing the opinions of other forum users who are doing the shouting down.

If someone makes a measured and polite critique of someone's behaviour in a video they may get disagreed with but they are unlikely to get shouted at, however too much of responses on this subforum are just people trying to score points against each other by flinging abuse about (and I've been sucked into it in the past), rather than being constructive, and it's sad that is tolerated nay encouraged here.
