ended prematurely after a couple of dozen silent yorkshire war cries of 'How much!'
Jeez.
Despite their protestations of having 1000 lines matching Tesco prices - I failed to find anything with less than a 20% surcharge on Asda prices.
Won't be going there again.
I think it will probably say something in the small print eg "Selected stores only".
Though Tesco's not a great supermarket to match, the amount of times I've been in Tesco and seen something on special offer
or reduced that is either much less than the advertised saving, exactly the same price, or even more expensive than the original price is unbelievable!
Some examples in the past year, Crispy Potatoes, price rise from 69p to 75p, marked on the shelve as "Was 79p" - they were never that price, my sister used to buy them weekly.
4 baking potatoes, half price at 62p with a fake was price of £1.34 or £1.35. But they were only 70p in the first place, a measly 8p saving, not the so called half price offer.
And countless other things, though I can't remember off the top of my head. There's also the Buy One Get One Free offers where the price has been put up just for the so called offer - and actually goes down again after the offer!
I only go in Tesco because it's just round the corner from where I live, but many times I've left empty handed in disgust at the false and illegal claims (which Trading Standards will not touch as they are the biggest supermarket - they've had loads of complaints, not just from me, plenty of other people, but they ignore them unless they are for a different supermarket) and gone home to get my bike to go to a supermarket out of my way.
