My First Sportive...

I am doing my very first sportive on 28 June this year. I'm really looking forward to it but I have a question....
I live only a mile and a half away from the start so have no intentions of going in the car, I will be receiving an energy pack but for obvious reasons, I don't want to have to take this with me. Will there be a place to leave it until I get back?
AND, why on earth does is start and the ungodly hour of 7:30 am!! When it says starts at 7:30, is that the start time or the gates opening time?
Thanks in advance!

Probably starts at 7.30 to give the slowest riders a chance to get to the finish line before the sun goes down.
I take it you do nt have a specific start time other than 7.30 ... if that's the case you can start when you want
the start will probably be open till 9 ish at a guess best to check though.

The ones I've done there hasn't been anywhere to leave things apart from your car- do you have to accept the pack?
They'll, probably, publish start times for the different rides e.g. 8-8.20 is the 100milers, 8.20-8.40 is the 62 milers etc. so just keep your eye out for your time slot.

Good luck.

I can't imagine it'll be that much, just take it with? Don;t eat the gels if you've not done so before and know your tummy can deal with the vileness!

Gels? Fartastic!

Don't you usually get the goodie bag at the finish? I've not done many of these because I get disqualified for bad clothes.

Why does it start at 7.30? It's because these events are aimed at self-loathers who want to wait bloody hours before the first pub stop!

Never done a sportive but I didn't realise there was a dress code! I'm trying and failing to imagine what would get you disqualified. Mankini? Hi-vis?

You normally get the goodie bag after the ride. If not, just shove them in your jersey pockets. It'll only be a few gels. Starts are normally staggered too. They'll let you off in groups of 20 or so from 7:30.

If it is an Evans event they give you the goodie pack before the start when you sign in. You dont need to start straight away (i think the earliest starting slot is about half an hour after the earliest sign up time) so you will be able to nip home with it or stash it somewhere
