No its fine, sorry if I came across a bit bluntly.

At work they deduct £83.25 before taxed & NI deductions which equals £999 (bike value), I then have £999 deducted from my salary on a monthly basis which means I pay roughly 30% less tax & NI on £999 (83.25 a month) which equals roughly £52 a month after the tax savings.

The last one I used at a previous employer was set up incorrectly, they did what your company does and for the same value used I paid back £78 a month!! I tried to question it with them but since they didnt understand it or more to the point were not bothered they just said to return the voucher which I couldnt as I had ordered a bike.

On Cyclescheme they charge the LBS (local bike shop) or retailer 10% commission on all sales. I am not sure if your business is just doing it themselves or using cyclescheme.

I don't know either tbh, all I'm going by is a chap that work in the account part of our garage, he did it and said that this is how it worked out! And if I was thinking about going ahead with the scheme I should think again "the government are not just gonna give money away otherwise everyone would want a piece" his words. How I wrote it is how our particular scheme works
Have a good day and it's been good to converse with you

Dont want to steer away from the thread, but it seems the biggest winners on the C2W scheme are employers now. If they are VAT registered they claim that back on purchase price & also benefit from reduced contributions, but have no final payment to make

Hi all, has anyone here had any dealings with a cycle shop in Ripon north yorkshire called MOOGLU?

I joined my companies cycleshceme, this company was on the list to use, I went to see them and thought they were very stand offish and judgmental towards me I wanted advise on everything from bikes to gear, the guy in the shop didn't seem bothered because I only wanted to spend defy5 money! I instantly took a disliking to this chap, needless to say I'm still getting my bike and accessories from him!!! Should I push to get some freebies? Cheers all

I had a lot of dealings with them at the back of the '90's when they were Blossomgate Cycles, then Boneshakers (which moved to Harrogate) then they became MoonGlu.

If it was Mark you dealt with, try a different day, if it wasn't, go back and ask for Mark, the results probably will be different. In general I would advise to not base you thoughts on one visit, the staff are only human and if you happen to get the one member of staff who has had a bad day, hasn't managed to get any or is hung over then you will get a bad experience. Obviously this doesn't apply if it's a one man band! If you want to experience REALLY bad customer service, go to the bike shop in Brighouse and talk to the guy there. Want to buy a £3K Pinarello? You'll be his best friend. Want a bike on CS? You might get told to go forth and multiply!

Since the "clarification" on final payment came in, it appears that way. HMRC don't want you to save tax, so what's the point of the scheme?

It does however depend on the scheme and if, and how, they get around that final payment. Our scheme were charging the 25% which meant on an £800 bike I'd save around £60, but the shop would give me 10% saving for cash and would do a better service than Halfords would. I do believe the scheme has just re-opened and they now extend the rental for a further 3 years or something for a nominal charge which eradicates most of the bike's value, so the saving should be bigger.

My 'LBS', even though I don't use it very often nowadays (not needed anything) always treats me the same as they always have - be it the last time I bought a bike from them or it's just a couple of inner-tube

if 'you' call in on a Saturday dinner-time, there'll generally be a few local club-men in the back, with tea & biscuits.
If... it's on a winter weekend, the coal-fire's lit, & it's a lovely little room/workshop.

The shop?

If I dont like a shop I dont use it. You can always get what you want elsewhere. Some of these numpties need to realise that the only thing they can offer different from other places is "Service". If they dont want to offer that then they should sod off and let someone else do the job.

What annoys me, not just in bike shops, is when you are talking to the salesman and the phone rings; I cannot stand being left standing there while the bloke chats away on the phone. Why can't they just say that they will call back after they have dealt with a customer?

Our LBS was busy recently. I was buying a new chain, but it was lunchtime and the only staff member there was with a customer.

Damn and blast.

Except he said "Sorry mate I'll be with you as quick as I can. Go have a coffee and I'll be with you in 5 minutes."

What with all the biscuits I ate I don't think they made a profit, but rather than just blanking me because he was with a punter spending big bucks while I was spending pennies, he took a few second out to ensure I still left a happy bunny event though I had to wait a few minutes.
Good PR!

Similar type experience I hade with Schmoos in Swansea. Cant remember what I needed exactly but I remember the fat bastard refusing to work on my bike because my chain and sprockets were dirty. I was thinking WTF?. I wasnt gonna bother asking him if I could use his toilet because my feces doesnt smell too nice to be honest. Some places dont seem to want the business that much, or they hate their employer.
