Round these parts it charges kids the adult fare. Oddly enough not many kids use them.

Here kids and young adults up to 23 yo get free bus travel - one needs to apply for the relevant card.
Basically, in Scotland you only pay for bus travel if you are between 23 yo and 59 yo

there was supposed to be a pilot project to extend it to everyone living in Glasgow. Great idea, but it seems to have vanished.
