My 'new' pub bike- Elswick Hopper Safeway

Cycle speedway wheels would fit that - and they're cheap.

my first (road) 'racing bike' was a 'Elswick Hopper - Whirlwind' (in Gold)
it looked nothing like this (it only had 5 gears )

My first 'racer' too I was 10 when I got it I thought for years I'd misremembered it but found a pic of one in the right colours on t'internet a while back. I'll rummage through my album in the cloud and post the pic.

I had my first proper painful accident on that bike, showing off to a girl I liked and whacked straight into the back of her dad's car. Luckily it was parked and I was young enough for free dental treatment.

My mum had the OP bike too, I used to like riding it when I was big enough too.

I've been doing plenty of shopping with it but not enough riding to the pub. I like to ride it with my heels on the pedals- it feels right. I sit bolt upright and cruise around feeling like I own the road, if I see someone riding a fatbike I put on a slight sneer. This weekend I experimentally attacked some rust on the chrome with some scrunched-up foil- very worrying! don't want to end up doing any restoration.
