My poor dog.

My dog Charlie

today had blood dripping from his penis. Not a lot in fact but even so it made me sit up and take notice.
After a trip to the vets it seems he has a swollen and probably infected prostate. No sign of cancer or bladder problems so far as the vet can tell.
A course of anti biotics will hopefully sort him out. If not then further investigations and possible castration if things are worse than expected.

He ruptured a disc in his spine about 10 weeks ago and has just got back to being his normal self.

It sucks to be a dog sometimes.

My Dad breeds mutts. I asked him has advice for having Lemmy's love plums off and he reckons it makes little difference to behaviour or health, and then he sealed the argument by finishing with "...and how would you like it?" Not one jolly little bit.

Give him a hug and some much needed fuss @colly and let him know you love him. We don't get much time to share with our lovely pets, so enjoy every minute.

12 years old now so not a spring chicken.

No I wouldn't breed him but he's always been 'complete'.

If it was necessary I would. Same goes for me

Castration dosent always change behaviour and can lead to the dog putting on weight.so exercise and diet becomes more important.

My old Labrador was something of a maniac.Befor castration the vet supplied medication that mimics castratiion.In my case or rather the dogs it had no effect so the vet advised against castrations.

As with all case of er hum 'mens dangly bit's talk' i can't read about it or discuss it due to a serious phobia about it,but i hope Charlie gets the help he needs and makes a full recovery!
