Earlier this year I had several PSA tests in Spain where I was living, all were raised but the urologist said they were nothing to worry about and he would monitor it with his ultrasound machine. I asked him to send me for an MRI as it was all included in a top private policy but he said , 'what do you want one of them for?' Long story short, I sold up in Spain and we returned to our apartment which we kept in West Sussex just in case. My GP put me on the two week referral, I had all the usual tests , MRI, Biopsy, CT and Nuclear Bone Scan. I was advised I had PC and it was intermediate, Gleason 3+4 x 3 & 4+3 x 1 out of 18 samples. Contained to the prostate capsule. I'm 67
I was offered Robotic Prostatectomy or RT and Hormone Therapy the surgeon said I was healthy looking, slim and fit and would be an ideal candidate for the surgery, so on Dec 9th I'll be having the op. For someone who has suffered for years with Health Anxiety, I'm amazed at how I have accepted my situation and am just getting on with it, trying not to project. I'll be popping over to Spain for a week to finalise a few official things and hopefully, if all goes well, we're planning on getting a nearly new camper and travel. Fingers crossed.
