The Moulton is nippy rather than fast. You do, thanks to the suspension, get some bobbing when you really give it welly! It's very manoeuvrable thanks to the short wheelbase and it would make a good commuting machine in congested areas.
Very stable downhill too.
It may look gorgeous from afar, but it is in reality, very battle-scarred. Could do with completely stripping down and a new paint job.........on the to-do list.
I bought it as a naked frame from Bradford on Avon about 18 years ago and built it up with my own selection of components - some of which have, over the years, been replaced. It's still running the original Mavic 'Paris Dakar' bb axle, headset and hubs. I chose the paintjob too. At that time Moulton gave you a choice of any colour you liked providing it was either gunmetal grey or custard yellow.
About a year ago, it fell over and the front mech boss got knocked off. So it's now got a single 48 tooth chainring running to a close ratio block at the back.
