I think i've got one in the loft, we've been getting them in the bathroom for a few days and we're wondering where the hell they're coming from as the windows are closed. turns out they're coming out the light fitting!

later on i get to don my dorkiest looking costume ever and go yellow jacket hunting.
got some of that spray you use from 3m away to dowse the nest, in fact got two. my backup is my vacuum cleaner.

ever seen a hoard of angry wasps spinning round one of those dyson style vacs? its hilarous!

Yeah I had one last week, right above one of the bedroom windows between the roof tiles and the guttering.
£ 45 and 2 hours later and the stripey twits were no more....

well earlier on i unloaded 2 cans of nest foam at the nest.
it was one hell of a shock to see how big it was mind! about the size of a football!!
however parts fell off with this foam stuff beating it and the whole area's had a damned good covering of permethrin. the blighters were seriously ticked off!

thankfully i scarpered down the ladder and shut the loft hatch quick enough to avoid any repercussions, outside they were going bonkers.

tomorrow morning i'll go and break the nest open and the last of em should scarper then.
thats 2 nests in as many years now.
odd really as i don't remember us ever getting one before and we moved into this house in 83!

My technique for dealing with wasps nests in the loft is to wait until after dark on a cool evening and then simply enevelope it in a bin bag and pull it down. A LA pest control guy put me onto it.

It's a good idea to ensure the bag has no unecpected holes and/or double it up with a 2nd bag. I have got rid of several the largest being football sized in my dad's loft.

Admittedly a certain amount of agility and nerve is required and I decline any responsibility for suggesting it!

i do 150 or so in a year, my boss gets £80 a time for them, most of which could be left alone if they are at roof hight and no danger to anyone.
thousands of gallons of pester-side are sprayed in to the environment needlessly every year kill millions of hard working helpfully insects, if they are out of the way on a roof ect leave them alone, the nests is abandoned at the end of September and they do not come back to it,

well i went back up saturday morning and although i found lots of dead wasps the nest suprisingly was still active.
so i decided to get angry, and somewhat scared at the same time....
dug out an old jyo (4ft fighting staff) and one more can of the foam, i used the jyo to beat open the nest and spray them as they got angry and tried to get out.
combination of spray and cracked nest should see them done in now. i'll leave it a couple of days.

i'll probebly leave the nest where it is even if it is dead as wasps don't like to make nests anywhere where another nest is/has been. so i'll make sure of it.
tbh i was happy to leave the nest for a time but they started getting into the house and were causing a nuisance.
