so I've brought the bike into the kitchen.

Oh the sheer unadulterated bliss of being able to work on the bike in the warm and dry, wearing my slippers and listening to Radio 4. ^_^

I'm only 36 you know...

i have just text your wife and she is on her way back , so best retune the radio and get THAT BIKE OUT QUICK or else you will be sleeping in the shed @winjim

Surely that means you should also be out for the day too, on the bike?

Having re-done our kitchen last year, I can't imagine ever being allowed to bring something grubby in it. That said, I have a garage pretty much dedicated to my bikes and their maintenance. I spent some time on Wednesday scratch proofing my rack to accept a new steed and even then the bits it gets hung up by are also wrapped.

The good bike gets kept indoors, but that doesn't go our in the wet, so shouldn't ever get 'that grubby'

Enjoy your day tinkering.

And there is nothing wrong with Radio 4, I have been a listener for a number of years, I am only 35.

I am helicopter taping the new, as yet virtually unridden, bike so nothing too grubby. Might go out on the other bike later if it stays wet. New bike is not for rainy conditions.

Hubby and I often brought our bikes into the kitchen to clean, or work on.
We have a new kitchen now and he isn't cycling anymore (at the moment!) but I still bring mine in from time to time.
I even had it in the front room standing on a flattened cardboard box, to clean and lube it while I watched The Darling Buds of May

Our kitchen has been in a state of I've-started-but-I-can't-muster-up-the-oomph-to-finish-decorating for over fifteen years, and as I also do most of the cooking, it's generally considered my play area for bike stuff. And my wife quite likes the smell of PTFE spray for some reason.

Micro MP3 player for bikes, Radio 4 for cooking.

55, but recently told by a couple of people I don't look it.
