Theres an odd 3/4" square bracket with a pair of diagonal holes drilled in mounted on the lower frame stay just infront of the drop out.

Im now thinking this bike is 40s- 50s. Looked online at some old brochures on the v-cc site and 1930s hudsons were fitted with SA hubs. Bsa bought new hudson out in the early 40s ( i think) so it would make sense for bicycles manufactured for them would use bsa components.

Have you found the frame number on it yet? There's an old BSA sales ledger from a bike shop that goes from the 1930's to the 1970's that someone had scanned and put on the VCC library website. That is full of frame numbers and dates, and might prove very useful in dating yours.

Looked all over the frame. Can't find a number. Any clues where it might be hiding?
It might have something on the front fork but it would require taking it out .
Were there any changes in the head badge design which may narrow down what period it was made?
