Ok,explain this one to me. I visited my dad's grave about an hour ago. As i approached i could see something on it that wasn't there the last time i went on Thursday. It was the big ornamental cup that mysteriously disappeared from his grave around a year ago. Someone had taken the plant i'd put on, out of its plant pot holder and put it in the cup. I'm thinking that someone had a brainstorm and stole the cup a year ago, then felt bad about it and decided to bring it back. I'm guessing the tea leaf is one of those who only visit their relatives grave around this time of the year to put a Christmas wreath on and that's why it's reappeared now. Either that or it's someone's idea of fun. I decided to take the plant out of the cup,put it back in the holder it was in and bring the cup home with me,incase it mysteriously disappears again. No one else apart from me tends to or visits my dad's grave,so it won't be another relative that's done the deed. Have you any suggestions as to who or what has nicked an ornamental cup and decided to bring it back a year later?

Did you make a big song & dance about it with your siblings, if not then maybe they thought their joke hadn't worked so returned it.

I once lost my wedding ring, 4 years later after moving houses I went into the loft & put my hand into a bag that I had never been in to my knowledge which had come from my mothers house only to come across the ring.

I mentioned it to Mrs Accy at the time and just left it at that. I'd forgotten about it till i saw it again. It was Mrs Accy who gave me the cup to put on his grave in the first place. I know we've had our ups and downs recently, but i don't think she'd play mind games with me. No,i'm going for the nicked it 'cause they liked it,then felt bad so returned it a year later explanation

Bleedin Brexit innit. could it be the cup had fallen behind the gravestone, you've presumed it was stolen when you didn't see it, groundsmen have been tiding up and replaced the cup from behind the gravestone? If not that then Bleedin Brexit innit

Quite recently, someone, perhaps the original person, put it back.

Yes,but if that's the case, why put it back? Not only put it back but put the plant in it. They even put the cup handle facing to the right which is how i'd put it. If i contact the police about it at least they'd narrow it down to the thief being right handed.

It was probably seized by the authorities for an extensive risk assessment.
Well, that is a possibility. The council worker in the cemetery has removed things from graves before, saying that they are a health and safety issue.

I don't know. Perhaps you could ask them?

Seeing as they returned the item it would be impossible to prove intent to permanently deprive. Without that there's no crime. With no crime comes no police interest.

Just be thankful it has returned. Perhaps it was divine intervention from you electricity company for you boosting their profits?

May well have been the same person. They might have been getting some stick for taking it in the first place.

A man's final resting place shouldn't be disturbed. My view.
