Oh lord, we spend a lot of time in York and a sort of fog of stupidity descends on people and they can only see York and not other people and certainly not bikes or cars. That first picture is the bike lane leading out of the station and I would slow down to a crawl if there were any people on that crossing point at all. I can see how a York resident may have been driven slowly insane by all the tourists but he needs to accept the fact that it's their town now and ask himself if he is comfortable going at full speed anywhere near the sort of person who comes to York to spend and hour and a half queuing in Marks and Spencer's when they could have just gone to the one at home, or indeed got on a train to Leeds, gone to the M&S there and come back in less time.

Some of the comedy reactions as the pedestrians realise they best move are highly comedic. However, I can't help but think that I'd probably chin the clown if he came tear-arsing at me as I tried to cross the road. Then again he probably wouldn't as I like to think I have a bit more spatial awareness than the average self-absorbed/obsessed UK denizen.

In fairness most of the peds weren't paying attention,
York always looked nice to cycle in when I went their for a UNI option.

I spent 3 years cycling in York and never had that amount of near misses with pedestrians. You simply can't cycle quickly in the centre as there are too many people focused on eating hog-roast baps, sightseeing and getting pissed. I miss the place.
