I noticed some people have put some explorers down, I sometines struggle with that concept, I admire some, those that inspire or do something new or for charity, but I do get the feeling that some of them live in slightly artificial worlds, Bear Grylis is the main suspect, public school numpty who has never had to work for a living.

Ray Mears gets my vote though as he only ever seeks to educate and it is never about him.

I can't believe no-one's mentioned dear old cliff?

I've not been to Dover for some time, but when I was there I was most impressed!

The Japanese actually have a state award of Living National Treasure. It goes to those people who have selflessly dedicated their lives to perserving cultural or artistic traditions. Mind you the Japanese have a lot more respect for craft and its role in everyday life than we do...

You can see some of the work of the people here

Yeah, all very worthy, but do any of them look as good in their smalls as a (15 years ago) Liz Hurley?

I was going to say a 15 year old LH but that would be a bit pervy:ohmy:

Oh, the Japanese have 'idoru' (idols) for that instead... and plenty of Japanese women are more than a match for Ms Hurley IMHO.
