My Garmin forerunner has saved me many times but is now broken. I like the Strava app on my phone but it lacks the "goto" facility of the forerunner. When planning a tour, I could programme in marker points via Google Earth. On the road, it sure beat the hell out of stopping to read a map in the wind and rain. Does anyone know how to use Strava to do this or any other app that can?

Usual answer for mapping is 'Ride with GPS'. I've only used it a couple of times but would be worth looking at. Theres an app and website.

I think so. You just pin waypoints.

Google isn't my preferred tool for plotting routes, but I just remembered that I was getting gpx files from it a few weeks ago.
Thanks, I'll give it a go.

Just asked my cousin, and we were plotting the route on Google as you would normally, then copying the URL from Google maps and pasting it into gpsies.com which outputs the gpx file.
