I have begun to feel like this is better than speaking to them as they can see that you are annoyed but not in a confrontational way.

God you are brave to ride through that bit of Rhyl, shopper vile ( i know) Drop the Air zound and go 'whooooo' works just as well. Mine have been step outs from areas where there isn't a crossing or obvious ped route, just happened. The obvious areas you ease off.

I generally always anticipate the potential worst case scenario (within reason), mentally prep myself and cycle accordingly- again similar to driving.

The ones that get me are the youths on MTBs without lights (when dark) that just cross the roads without looking for bikes. Got one the other day on a poorly lit stretch somewhere between Waterloo and Vauxhall (southbound), gave him the good ol' "NO!!!" and fortunately it was enough to stop him in his tracks for me to (just about) swerve. He shouted something at me, but it could've been much worse for both of us! Perhaps I should've been cycling more slowly, but it's an otherwise open road...

Pedestrians can cause trouble, but in your case I would have been tempted to give way rather than maintaining speed and giving a blast on the Airzound. However, it depends on when you saw him - emergency stops traffic can go very wrong.

I do see a few pedestrians relying on their hearing to decide if it is safe to cross.
Not to clever in low speed areas when hybrids are deathly quiet using their electric motors.

That happened to me last night,bloke and his dog,think he was faffing with his mobile phone as he crossed.I had already predicted his movements but he jumped when he looked round.Gladly I didn't react at all.Just went on my merry way.

Dude, you could have easily have just slowed and let the guy cross then.

I'm more intreagued by the two gentlemen behaving very suspiciously around a tiny motorcycle at there end there!

Indeed, or simply moved two foot to the right. Either Matthew didn't see him crossing (not paying attention) or he decided to maintain a course that could result in a collision. Either way, the pedestrian was the lesser of the problem.

Glad it's not just me, if I was the pedestrian I'd have been tempted to shove that airhorn somewhere uncomfortable
