nearly hit by a bus - with a twist

Usual story: I'm in my lane, and a bus passes me just before the road narrows. He stops because an on coming bus is blocking his way.

I'm sure he's seen me, but still he moves without indication into my lane, threatening to crush me against a 10 foot brick wall and forcing me to stop suddenly. HIs defence was he was avoiding a head on collision, even though he wasn't moving.

The twist? I was a pedestrian. My lane was the footpath. I was running for the bus that wanted to kill me. MOving into my lane involved mounting the curb.

At the very least, I am pretty sure that in the highway code it probably says something like, "You are not allowed to drive on the pavement. The pavement is for pedestrians. Drive in the road, you idiot!"

Yeah, but I think it says "you should avoid squashing people" rather than "you must avoid squashing people"

Almost all buses have multiple CCTV cameras now, should make for interesting viewing.

Why did he mount the pavement at all?? Is the road so narrow that there's no alternative? And if so, why are buses of that size using it?

Or was the driver being impatient, and couldn't wait for the oncoming bus to get clear? And if he was coming up to a stop anyway, why so impatient?!

Most buses have CCTV however it is really amazing how often the records of an incident are irretrievable!

That has been said on forums a few times in my recollection. I would also scout around for shop and business CCTV, but be quick incase they have a 24/48 hour wiping policy.
