Frankly I'd not bother. As others have said, driver was trying to be sensible then misjudged it badly - if you were close enough to bang on the car, they probably got enough of a wake-up to not repeat. Realistically police are not going to do anything nor be much interested - perhaps appropriately in the great scheme of things (at the risk of being unpopular here, and being mindful it could have gone much worse).

If it was malicious, that's a different thing entirely

^ yes, it's much better to be run over by someone who didn't mean to rather than someone who did.

Regardless of the intentions of the driver, this was careless driving, and deserves to be reported.
I doubt they will bother prosecuting, but they may send someone round to have a word, or send a letter.

Stopped off at Droitwich police station on the way home - it was unmanned with a intercom that connects to 101

Reported there and now emailed an "allegation of bad driving" report sheet to fill in - not looked at it yet as just about to go out for the evening.

Will take a look tonight...

I "love" how someone would avoid a busted mirror at the expense of possibly knocking someone over... Yeah rubbish driving. Close enough to hit it, too close..

First chance to fill this in...Any comments before I post?

I was riding my pushbike towards Bromsgrove train station, away from the A38 on Stoke road at the date and time stated.
Traffic was medium the road is slightly uphill and I was overtaken safety by a van and a car by the time I reached Marlborough Avenue on the left.
I then performed a shoulder check to pass a parked car away from the door zone and noticed the Picasso following which appeared to be holding back at a safe distance.
After Russel Croft on the left the road ahead bends slightly to the left which makes any overtaking on this section dangerous as you are unable to safety see far enough ahead. At exactly this point the driver of the Picasso decided to overtake. As they started this manoeuvre there was a car (Lexus IS 200 REG RF06 HAX) coming the other way and rather than abort the overtake they continued so as they were level with me they pulled in pushing me towards a drain in the road and the kerb. I shouted a warning and banged on the window to try and stop them moving closer.
The Picasso missed colliding with me by less than 5cm and the driver didn't stop.
I have the event filmed on front and rear racing camera (the front is misted up slightly) I have included a DVD of three tracks
1) edited front and rear views showing sections of the incident
2) full commute unedited front facing footage
3) full commute unedited rear facing footage
I have a copy of a recorded GPS file which shows exact speeds and timings.

Also would anyone suggest putting anything in section 12 - any other factors relevant?

Thanks...

dont put 'banged on the window', put 'I only stayed upright by warning the driver, who inexplicably steered into me'.

Or something.

Just had a call from the Police.

They started off by saying that they wouldn't pursue prosecution as there were a couple of incidents in my full video where they wouldn't want to present in court.

The first was riding on the pavement, the second an overtake.

Here's the video

I have recently started avoiding that roundabout at rush hour for a couple of reasons, firstly I have recently gone clipless and not 100% confident clipping in for a speedy start which this roundabout needs. Secondly, the next junction on there is the motorway and I have nearly been taken out by cars a couple of times driving way too fast. I have often cut across this pavement (at a careful speed) Take that on the chin I guess - no defense to breaking the law which I was doing - something to think about at this roundabout in the future.

He said that the court could say I put myself in a dangerous situation with the overtake of the line of cars, I said I was filtering and asked if there was anything illegal in my overtake he said no and started to talk about lots of dangerous cyclist behavior which I immediately stopped him by saying that is just collective responsibility and holding me accountable for other people actions - he quickly stopped.

I did say that prosecution was never really my aim, rather a word with the driver to take more care and give cyclists more space when passing. He said that they would still be contacting the registered keeper to establish who was driving and inform that they would not be prosecuting but ask them to take more care around cyclists.

So, kind of the result I was after I guess... Would I report something like this again? I doubt it.

Why did you include the first part of the video anyway, as it seems irrelevant?

I think he was searching for excuses not to prosecute when none was needed. I'd have simply said what most have already said here - I don't think it was malicious, I will have a word with them and give some strong advice, thanks for reporting this. I suspect you'd have been happy with that!

There was nothing wrong with the overtake at all. The roundabout was naughty (not necessarily unsafe...) - no excuses, either take it as traffic, find a different route, or do exactly what you did dismounting!

Agree with all of that.
