I agree about boat floating - I thought the show would be more exciting and interesting than I found it to be.

I only went last year because my sister-in-law was thinking about buying an ebike and wanted some advice from someone who has done thousands of ebiking miles.

In that respect the show did its job.

Very few shops have more than a handful of ebikes, so it's the only way to see an extensive range in one place.

One could say the same about push bikes, although the choice in shops is much wider.

me and a mate are going tomorrow, only as i have some cheap tickets, its my day off work and i wouldn't be doing anything else.
i went a few years ago on the Thursday trade day and thought it was ok, will have to see tomorrow.

I've only got back into cycling this year, and I don't see a need to go. I have a bike and all the kit I need so there is little point looking at other stuff.

Not only that, I work in the events & exhibition trade, and the last thing I want to be doing is going to another show !!

Me and the wife are going on Saturday, never been before, can I ask a couple of questions?
Can you take your own food in?
Will bags/backpacks be searched?
Can you take photos?
I read on the NEC website no food was allowed in, no photos were allowed and bags will be searched, seems a bit daft.

If you don't want to go and look at nice new gear and get to see a wider range of bikes than you ever could going to your local shops then I suppose it is a waste of time.

On the other hand I'm looking forwards to seeing stuff I can't see anywhere else and buying a few bits and pieces, again with a wider choice than my local shops of "if it's not endura or mavic we don't have it"

and it's a day not in work!

Don't go it's a rip off
in what way is it a rip off?

It's not pretending to be anything other than an exhibition and the opportunity to buy stuff.

they arent promising anything else

Was thinking of going but the cost of getting there by train is ridiculous and it takes ages;will prob go to the Excel show early next year as it's cheaper and I can get down to that London in just over an hour.

To be fair to @clid61 one of the reasons that I've asked @Jamieyorky to let us know what it is like is because, in some of the past years, the show has been a bit of a rip off - particularly when it was at Earls Court. You ended up paying top whack, and when you got in to the show there were very few exhibitors there, no chance to try stuff out and what little there was for sale was extortionately over-priced.

Some years were goo d but some were bloody awful!
What he said

Perhaps they wanted to take some sandwiches in with them instead of paying the rip off prices being asked in the NEC? A perfectly reasonable and understandable desire.

Not everyone earns a fortune. Lots of the forum members are people with families or with restricted incomes.

You can bring your own food in.

This isn't about the cost of the food or someones salary.

What are they hiding in their bag that they are concerned may be found ??
