Have got lazy this week, only done one day on the bike so far after 14 months of doing every available day, just seem to be having a lull, have felt slow, tired and crap, the kids are off so no dawn chorus of them getting up so three days this week I have had a lie in until 8 instead of getting up and going at just after seven on the bike, last night the kids had their mates sleeping over so didnt get to sleep until 3.45 am because of the racket they were generating so didnt want to get up.

Anyone else get out of the routine ?

Peversely, Have enjoyed actually using my car.

I am not a regular cycle commuter. My route is a hilly 13 miles each way and I have no facilities to shower and change so I only cycle in when I know I will not be meeting clients.

I cycled in today. The weather was good and I arrived feeling, well so goddam good, you know that feeling when your just bubbling, or should that be babbling?

I'm looking forward to riding home later ;)

J4cko, get back on that bike, you know it makes sense ;)

I agree with Twanger. You'll soon start missing it while feeling too sedentary and you'll want to get back into it. Then you'll enjoy it again.

14 months of cycling every available day is outstanding!

Nature's way of telling you to have a rest?

Exactly, i've just had 2 weeks off and loving it more than ever. Before my holiday i could have quite happily used the car a couple of times, now i wouldn't consider it.

I worked from home yesterday and missed the commute, felt lazy at the end of the day. I went out for a ride in the late evening, loved it, first time i've ridden for the pleasure of it in ages.

My bike was in the LBS for a service a few weeks ago and I had to take the bus for just one day. I nearly went 'postal' on my fellow passengers because of their sh!t music and banal conversations ... (urge to kill rising!)

Contemplating getting a back up bike in case this happens again!

I can sympathise with you there, looking back now I don't know how I put up with travelling using public transport (buses) to & from work now I cycle, it's expensive, cycling is quicker, I don't have to stand up in a crowded bus when it's full of tourists, don't have to sit/stand next to something that's just crawled out from under a rock, don't have to put up with chavs playing their "music" on their phones - do they know they can get earphones - much better sound quality over the tinny phone speaker too, but of course they wouldn't be annoying anyone else then would they which is probably the point of them blaring it out in the first place. Lots of smelly people use buses too that don't wash. I have 2 bikes now so I can use the other if working on one of them.

1 week of crazy hours due to holidays
2 weeks of holidays

+

slight flu

=

lack of motivation for the past 2 weeks to do the full 21 miles in the morning, so just been doing 9 miles until today when I did 15.

That thing is coming back though, it switched on this morning. I felt it course through the veins.

Get off your arse Jacko, a few days will get you right again.

I feel for you,I have been through six months of this where I was just not enjoying my cycling. It got so bad I even dropped the booze.I now haven't touched a drop in 8 months.

Haven't got out of the routine unless a nice trip on the tube turns me on and no it doesn't.Im tired today after last nights 12am commute which was not nice with all the boy racers and idiots about.
