first off i needed a frame to work on the bike, so i made this up

http://i773.photobuc...id/S1052441.jpg, not bad considering its some old decking, fence posts and some screws that it was made out off

. Next i had to strip the old paint off using some paint stripier. word of warning with this, DO NOT get it on any part of you body or inside you as it will be very painful indeed!!!!.Next and the most important thing, was to give the frame a good clean( a very, very good clean!) and "key" the surface as this will give the paint something to stick to. Before painting commences give the frame a good going over with some decreasing fluid again just to make sure its clean ( i can not stress enough how important it is to make sure the frame is clean be for the paint goes on), Once the frame is clean you can start with the painting. first i used a primer (depending on what color you do, will depend on what color primer you use), i done two coats of that allowing drying time between. Next i done the base paint green, that was 3 coats, again drying time between. Next i done 3 coats of the red, again, drying time between. Lastly i done a top coat with two layers, again, drying time between. You are better off in a shed or something if you wish for a perfect paint job (because of all the rubbish being blowing about outside) but even with basic tools etc you can make a paint job to be proud of. this was the first time i have every sprayed a bike frame, so i don't think its not bad for my first attempt!

. its not the strongest of paint jobs but a few bits and bob on the frame should give it some resistance against scratches...... or would you could do it take it to a powder coaters and they will paint strip, clean and then repaint it for you, but where is the fun in that

http://i773.photobuc...id/S1052452.jpgbike on the bike stand ready for some new parts i got. http://i773.photobuc...id/S1052450.jpg
parts list as follows.
1 chain set
2 pedals
3 front deraileur
4 rear deraileur
5 wheels
6 disk brake adapter
now looks like this http://i773.photobuc...id/S1052453.jpg waiting for tyres still but looks very sexy i think

the frame i have only has a mount for centre pull, since buying a bike with disk brakes i have gone off rim brakes big time.To start off with, i was going to leave the rear brake off but after some thougt, i thought it might be a good idea to put a rear brake on!!. I found on e bay someone that does a disk brake adapter, now it looks like this http://i773.photobuc...id/S1052454.jpg . Next task is to get the handle bar controls sorted and then onto the the front brake, which will be a hydraulic disk brake kit (also the most exspensive part on the hole bike! ) and then finishing touches like bike computer and so on.Nearly finished the bike bulid, need to get it done sooner then planed as i have already started planning my bike tours for next year, but thats another thread.

handle bar controls fitted
http://i773.photobuc...id/DSCF0486.jpg
bike is now rideable!:hyper: :wahhey:
http://i773.photobuc...id/DSCF0483.jpg
and yes i do use a bike trailer

I have to admit the the rear disk brake option did not go very well! and was causing all sorts of chain line/ gear change problems ( and in some cases, stopping problems aswell!!!), i have now removed that and every thing is working as it should.
I have two things left to do, change the front brake to hydralic and put a rack on the back but i feel this not necessary at this moment in time as i just wanted to get out and ride  :bicycle:
Every bike i buy from now on i will bulid up my self as i have thoroughly enjoyed myself
