What would you suggest?

There are rules regarding parking in cycle lanes marked with a solid line.

Report it to bother council and police (I don't know if parking enforcement has been devolved to the council in your town like in many others) and if they don't improve the situation then raise it with your MP and, if you're a member, CyclingUK.

I was noticing similar issues when out on my ride today. I would imagine a lot of motorists just don't give it a second thought when parking on cycle paths - more should be done to make them aware/ prevent them

5%...for wusses, here in the US, most craft ales seem to run 6-8% or more!!
There is a UK version too.

Around here the trend seems to be to park on the grass verges even when the road is wide so that rather than aesthetically pleasing grass there is just mud instead.

Why don't they put double yellow lines on the road too?... that way the motons might understand that they shouldn't park there.
I was thinking the same.
All cycle lanes painted on the road are seen as parking spaces here, sometimes they park on the shared pavements too!
Short of stopping every two minutes, taking a picture of the offending number plate on the act, then tweeting the picture to the local police, what can you do?
Parking restrictions are rarely enforced out of town, I find.
