I tried having a look for routes to 'Edinburgh City Centre' it took me to some place in the Philippines, a bit far for a commute :bravo:

Have you made sure to run a virus scan / malware scan since visiting the site? :bravo:

I worry about 1-post members who come on and direct you to a website. You never know what you're visiting...

It's certainly intresting, first thing i've seen that uses the Google App Engine this well.

But it's still got a lot of work before it's going to be good enough for people to use it.

I know that no one in my area cycles from where i live to wear from where i work. Because frankly only a hand full of cyclists go from my town to central london on a daily basis, and i know none of them live near me. So all be it it's a good idea, but i would like to see a map with lines of popular routes that people take on the map rather than being able to look at other routes and find out which road they take.

So potentially it's all there to do things like that, but it's lacky the functionality at present.

Thanks for adding routes

First of all, thanks for all those who have added routes. I appreciate the concern some may have regarding malware, etc. I know, in a forum, I cannot do much to convince others the genuineness of the site, but all I can say I publicized my site cos I did it as a pet project and I want people to use it :-)

Anyway I know there is stil plenty of room for improvement. And thanks for all the feedback and suggestions!

Regarding the search accuracy, unforunately since I am using Google Map API's reverse coding functionality, I am kind of stuck with the result of Google Map API, but I am sure I can do soemthing about that in the future. In general, if you are specific about your location, the search is OK

Thanks!

I did a search for my commute and found nothing. An auto generated route which takes into account certain things might be useful...eg. no motorways, or allow people a preference for quieter roads/cycle paths/blah blah.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

P.S. I have added a few improvements to the site over the weekend, mainly to do with route browsing (which may be a more popular way of seeing routes at the moment as there are not a huge amount of routes) e.g. now you can preview routes...

Seems a bit chicken and egg to me. When people add routes, there will be routes to find. Otherwise there's no interest there.

I would suggest selling the idea to another service, such as mapmyride if they still exist.
