Yes, the value (& ability to build exactly what spec/lengths that I wanted) helps
I guess another part of my choosing Ribbles, is still a slight touch of messing with the 'badge-snobs', hence why I drive a Skoda Octavia
I have a 'blue' winter/audax (as they phrase/advertise it), & a Gran Fondo
(considering replacing the 'blue', with a CR3)
On both counts (car & bikes), there's still plenty of people, who in the case of the Octy, & opine about the VW parts in it - or whatever
I tell them they're a cut-price Audi, as follows
Not long ago, a work collegue was considering a new Audi A4 'All-Road'
It wasn't listed at the time - prices from memory - not looked at them as I write
But, working on the normal (front-drive) A4 estate, the cheapest model (1.2TSi??) was about £28.000
Elsewhere in the 'VAG', a 2.0Tdi (140BHP), 6-speed Octavia Scout (same as a lot of Ambulance Services use as Responder cars) was about £27,500
Later, she told me that she's been quoted £36,000 for (roughly) the same spec A4 All-Road
I believe she's foregoing the 4 rings, saving the money, & having the black head-dress badge
