Nothing wrong with that rim. It is just the rim joint. Some rims are not welded, just pinned. However, spoke tension holds the rim together with a force of 2.5 tons. It will not separate. Go for a ride, have a beer. Happy days.
Thanks for the feedback, I was also a tad concerned about what looks like could be hairline cracks as per the first picture. The wheel is currently in use, is three or four years old and has had a fair bit of use.

I suspect that the rim was like that from new and you just didn't notice (pic 2). The rim does look well used and certainly has a fair amount of brake wear too - buy a new one!
